Celestial wonders.

A fresh, brisk morning. Out of the front door with Wilf to find the sky crisscrossed with contrails. For some reason the major air routes from north to south redirected over our little village. Barcelona, Johanessburg, Lagos, Marakkesh in one direction. Paris, London, Berlin in the other. Distant destinations etched out in the arctic cold sky above . Scores and scores of celestial St.Andrews Crosses stretching to the horizon, hanging undissolved in the still air. Strangely beautiful . A modern version of Constantines vision at the Milvian Bridge.

Wilf is off the new medicine and back onto Prednisone. Relief all round. He turned in at eight last night and slept solidly until six this morning. No bi-hourly garden visits. 'The font' has headed back to London for a couple of days to look after 'Granny Font' so the decorating of the Christmas tree can proceed without constant interruption. Pizza for lunch and a chicken stew , 'all you have to do is turn on the oven', for dinner. Wilf can hardly wait.

  2. Most beautiful pictures today... even of the sleeping Wilf. Glad our dear furry friend is back onto the old meds.

Strange. But that's what i tell my dad too. "all you have to do is turn on the oven" *LOL* But my dad is petrified of ovens and microwaves.

    Our love to Wilfee.

We're so pleased to hear that Wilf has stabilised.

  6. It's a good start to my day to read that Wilf is feeling better and resting comfortably. I hope it continues.

Your pictures are lovely, but are you sure that the unusual cloud pattern wasn't caused by a UFO?

  7. Hey there Angus...
I'm so glad Wilf is comfortable again...he certainly looks it! Those criss-crosses are somewhat mystical. I wonder which one leads to home?

  8. Oh, the decorating! I wish you good luck with getting it all done.

Enjoy the life of bachelors, Angus and Wilf!

  9. I'm glad that Wilf is feeling better... I feel better too!

I hope that you and Wilf enjoy the "guy's life" while the font is gone... And, somehow, I doubt that the font really slows the decorations all that much :)

  10. I'm so glad it was just the meds that were causing the trouble and now, with the return to prednisone, Wilf is feeling better.

So, Angus, if you're on to decorating the tree, does that mean the elusive lights were found? I told my husband that we're not alone in forgetting where last year's treasures have been hidden and it was some small consolation!

Loved the vision of distant places traced in the clear cold sky!

  13. Sweet to see Wilf resting in his bed despite the reasons. Contrails - the new "aurora borealis?" of day time?

  14. Relief all around indeed. Good news.
And it appears that even the skies over France share my passion for Scotland.
    Have fun with the tree!

  15. Not to be confused with Constantine's vision of the minivan, in which God told him that he would only be getting 12 mpg! :)

  18. Glad you're feeling better Wilfie. Love the contrails, we see lots of them when we travel from the city to the country. I always wonder where the planes are going. I like the idea of Marakesh

  19. I love the intersection of comings and goings in the sky. I hope the font left some icecream for dinner too.

  20. Don't forget the coconut ice cream! And a glass of bubbly, of course.

  21. If Petey were to see that many contrails at once, he would lose his mind. When we see one, all we have to say is, "Petey there's an airplane". Petey will look up into the sky, then race across the lawn as fast as his little legs will carry him. It's quite amusing as he leaps into the air trying to catch it.

    Love to Wilf!

  28. Those criss-crosses are so cool! I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.

I think I might just stop by and invite myself to have lunch and dinner with you. Yours sounds much better than anything I'd make for myself.
