Hot and humid .

Moscow was hot and humid . The men in dark suits sensibly sporting summer outfits. My host , a senior politician , dressed like an inverted daffodil in lime green shirt and yellow trousers . Hartford Country Club meets Russian oligarch . Angus in dark blue suit, shirt and tie stands out like an undertaker in a field of exotic , pastel shaded , flowers .

The meeting wasn't , as thought, in the airconditioned luxury of the boardroom but in a plywood chalet at the Moscow Airshow . Any pretence of business lost amid the roar of engines and fighter jets performing improbable, gravity annulling , gyrations in the sky above .

On my return home Wilf does a ten minute soft shoe shuffle routine . Paws out in front of him, body turning first this way then that , every part of him in a state of constant motion . High pitched whoops rather than barks of delight . His body simply unable to contain the joy that's welling up inside him now that he's found his lost sheep . A quart of love bursting out of a white furry pint pot. ' The font ' looks at me , laughs and says " I guess you could say he's happy ".

  5. You had us worried there for a moment when you didn't post for a couple of days -- we thought maybe Wilf had taken a turn. Very happy and relieved to hear he is still capable of such unbridled joy to greet his long lost morning croissant companion!

  10. I so enjoy your posts. Got a real belly-busting laugh at this one. 'Dress for success' is really tricky in these days of change, right?

  12. Happy to see you're back Angus, and to see Wilfee's joy too.

  13. Angus, glad you're back safely from what I am sure was a whirlwind trip. We saw on the news here the first stealth fighter jet that made its first public appearance MAKS air show.

But there's nothing like the greeting of our 4 legged family members when we return that reminds us that there's no place like home!

  14. What a happy, smiling photo of Wilf! Who knew Russian officials dressed like the Caribbean?

  15. That last photo made me do a serious double take.
    They look so much alike.

  16. Whew!! We're relieved that Wilf is happy to see you after your trip. We were thinking something catastrophic had happened to Wilf (oh, and Angoos and the Font too) when there were no posts for a few days.

  18. Your Russian host and Mme Bay. A match made in heaven, sartorially speaking?

So pleased to read the delightful description of Wilf's greeting routine.

  19. At least it doesn't sound like you were in Moscow for very long! I love the image of Wilf with too much joy to contain. It's one of the best things about sharing life with a dog! :)

  20. Thank you for coming home and making Vilfee so happy!

I wish it was humid here today. It's a bit chilly, especially considering we were in the 90's yesterday.

  21. Were Boris and Natasha at the meeting? How about Moose and Squirrel? I think perhaps only us Yanks will get that reference but I couldn't resist.

What a lovely description of Wilf's delight at your return...priceless. Soft shoe shuffles and whoofs are always wonderful.

  25. Despite our Republican skeptics of global warming, it appears Europe [including Russia] are about to awaken to the need for central AC in the house. In the interim, it appears
Ongoose should pack his tropical wardrobe on these summer trips. We're happy when Wilf is happy, and right now we're very happy indeed.

  26. We were worried beyond belief when you did not post! We thought something might have gone wrong with Wilf. You know the whole world loves the little polar bear and we waited, unable to concentrate on anything else, until we had word of him!
We are overjoyed to hear his reaction to your return! God bless him!
