It doesn't take much .

Peak tourist season . A French national holiday on Monday .The cafe in the square full of early rising Dutch and Belgians trying to have breakfast before the heat builds up. We head off to try a quieter hostelry down by the petanque court .

Italian coffee was always made just right. Here as often as not it's burnt and acrid. This turned out to be an as often as not place . None of this bothered Wilf . He was in seventh heaven . After finishing his bowl of water he was able to head off across the petanque court unsupervised , lead trailing behind him , a definite spring in his step . A mass of lampposts to sniff and christen . It doesn't take much to make an old , blind dog happy . Hope , as he might say , is the only bee that makes honey without flowers .

  3. I've often contemplated a European coffee league. Switzerland at the top I think, for quality and consistency. France, as you say, highly variable. As for Scotland, where a cup of instant granules dissolved in hot milk still goes under the name of 'coffee' in certain quarters...what can one say?

So pleased to hear that Wilf has a spring in his step this morning.

    Cheers,
    Gail.

  4. Glad that Wilf is having a good day. Couldn't agree more about French coffee. We found a cafe with semi decent coffee and stuck with it as any change to the routine usually meant a cup of disappointment.

  8. oh happy little bear! striding out to adventure!
uh oh. i confess... i drink the cafe' francais mixed with hazelnut cappuccino by int'l coffee, a cup of chemicals no doubt, but so delish.
when i drink real coffee tho.. i want it strong and fresh and black...so guess i'm not a total loss.
is there a village flower committee? you could start one to put some beauty on the village street... then think, you could have great fights with the other committees!! :)
    love and hugs,

  9. Hope you have had a peaceful Sunday Wilfee.

Yesterday we had, what we call in Brittany, a fest noz, which is full of traditional brittain dancings, and the guest was a english/scottish singer who talked us about poets like Robert Burns. She sang in gaelic with an amazing lovely voice.

So, my night was dedicated to you Angus, and the Font (even if she is swedish !).

AmitiƩs to you, and lots of bisous to my beloved polar bear.

    What a beautiful church!

One of the things I love the most about dogs is how they teach us to enjoy the simple pleasures of life!
