Canine theatre .

Wilf's in a sweet spot. A bit more confused this week but otherwise full of vim and vigour . The weather helps . Warm and bright . Nothing to trouble old arthritic joints or tumours . Yesterday as the sun sets he treads on a nettle . Paw held up in that overly theatrical " only a sausage can dull the pain " dog type way . With no sausage forthcoming he settles down on the tarmac and falls asleep. He's soon snoring . For the second time in as many days the chauffeur is called to come and collect us . While we wait for the car the sun brushes his coat and he glows brilliant white . Maybe when he's asleep he dreams of being swift and beautiful again .

  3. In his dreams he is a puppy in delight - love the fotos because he looks like a puppy having fun.
Wilfie is one lucky fellow to have his family looking after him so wonderfully - his fuel is love that's why he is keeping on!
From all of us wishing you a happy day - love Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie

  4. He is beautiful! Oh Wilf, we love you so. Never knew anyone like you that can sleep at the drop of a hat and on a roadway nonetheless. You grow more beautiful everyday!

  5. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Wilf may be less swift but he is still beautiful.

  6. I love the photos of Wilf lying on his back and wonder if he's trying to tell you something tow days in a row by this pose. Strange as it might sound my first dog taught me the value of taking time to stop rushing to a destination (or to meet dealines) and just to lie beside him looking up to the sky - so Angus the next time Wilf has four paws to the sun, (despite what the farmers or the font may think if they see you) lie on your back for a few minutes, and you will see, as no doubt Wilf knows, that any worries you or he may have are really very small in the grand scheme of things, and the best things in life sometimes are as simple as the moments spent lying in the sunshine holding the paw of a good friend who you love.

  10. I have wondered those same things Angus, as I have watched our old dogs sleep. Perhaps Wilf is also dreaming of the games of mischief he and Digby used to play.

  12. I think Wilf is totally in the present, in the moment. Lost in the total enjoyment of what is. Not missing a single moment of now by worrying about not having the perfect haircut or choosing to nap on the tarmac rather than run. That is unfortunate human trait. We can learn from dogs.

Thank you, Angus, for the photos of Wilf on his back. Really needed then this morning.

  13. His fur took on a special glow in the sunlight. It looks idyllic. I couldn't help but wonder what you'd do these days without a cell phone - You and Wilf would end up stranded all over town!

  14. Ah, but Wilf, you always have been and always will be beautiful (and charming).

  15. Life of Riley's comment really hit a nerve. You see we have an older ill dog-holding her paw in the sunshine like we used to do, brings tears to my eyes.

  16. Ah, don't we all dream of just that.
    Wilf need not concern himself.
    He's completely beautiful.

  17. Here, here, Riley! I laughed at the first photo - so comfortable, not a care in the world. Wonderful pose - I, too, need to try this sometime :).

  23. I was just going to ask you if we could possibly trade weather because it's cold and nasty here. But I think Wilf needs the warm weather more than I do. Hope it sticks around awhile for him.

Wilf is still beautiful to me. I truly do love him as if he were my own.

  24. Yes, he IS still beautiful :) What a full life Wilf has had, and I suspect he may be the only pup I "know" that falls asleep in the middle of the road. I think it's part of his charm.
