Me ? No !

All the supermarket check-outs, bar one , busy . I push up the trolley, smile and cheerfully ask " Are you open Madame ? " . ' Me ? No ! The till yes ' , comes the frosty reply . Gallic disdain. One irascible lady . The rest of our interaction conducted in silence.

Grey skies. Scudding clouds . Wilf has a long afternoon saunter along the road that snakes through the valley . He signals it's time to go home by lying in the long grass, rolling on his back and then falling fast asleep . Life in deepest France Profonde . The sound of trickling stream, chattering birds and an old snoring PON.

  1. I do hope you're learning all the best French profanity to use in such cases! :)

  2. Wilf, your sky's look like those here today in deepest Los Angeles profounde. Cold, very rainy. Sleep inducing. This writer, somewhat irascible today. You are adorable, upside down in the grass...

  6. As my mother used to say, "it takes all kinds to make the world spin".......maybe Wilf could have used his canine charms on Madame had he been there. We are a mere 34 days from our move to France so we will soon find out how to deal with the occasional irascible person, in French!

  9. I have found that after enduring a shopping trip - maneuvering my way through grocery cart drivers who NEVER got their training or license for one...and then standing in a line to pay for said supplies..that the countenance and attitude of the "checker" can be the one epic ingredient that will Make or Break the shopping trip for that day...
Oh ...there ARE some doozies out there!! But having kids that work in retail and hearing their experiences...I ask myself...who can blame the poor cashiers???? Hugs to Wilf! xxx

  10. Wilf's belly up pictures always crack me up. Good thing he isn't too big so you can just pick up the sleeping bundle and put him in the car.

  13. The chilly cashier probably related to the Prim Paris Vet. Hopefully the only frost you shall see in France Profonde for some time to come.
