Kelleee.

There's nothing like a shapely pair of legs to put a smile on a boys face. In Wilfs case the smile can be traced to the arrival in the village of a seven year old Springer Spaniel called Kelly. This morning as the family fellow and yours truly were walking past the gates of the chateau ' Kelleee ' came bounding out to say 'bonjour' . She's one of those enthusiastic, slightly ungainly, tongue lolling dogs that doesn't so much run as fall over her feet. It transpires that the old lady who lives in the cottage by the windmill has been to the rescue centre and found herself a new companion.

Wilf, who was engrossed with something unspeakable in the hedgerow, took some time to notice Kellys presence. But when he did he was star struck. The family troubador stood , frozen in admiration, as Kelly cartwheeled and piroueted around him. A rerun of the Polish farmboy meets sophisticated French ballerina script.

Sadly for Wilf, Kelly was soon off again . He tried to run after her down the lane but he doesn't have the turn of speed he used to. For a while the old fellow looked crestfallen but was soon heading purposefully home. A definite air of ' just let me take a quick nap and then we'll see who's the fastest ! '. He's now asleep by the door, dreaming of heaven only knows what. We'll wake him up at lunchtime. Perhaps Kelly will be there on his afternoon walk. As Wilf might say, ' It's not by the grey of the hair that one knows the age of the heart '.

  10. Or the less eloquent "Just because there's snow on the roof doesn't mean there's not a fire in the chimney!" Petey has a Rottweiler mix across the street who is in love with him, she must be at least 4 times his size. I'm not sure if he ignores her efforts to get his attention out of disinterest or fear!

  11. There's nothing like a beautiful girl to put a spring in a fellow's step! At least Wilf seems to have better taste than Digby did. I recall the object of his affection was a bit less charming. I have to say, Wilf's wisdom for today might be one of my favorites!

  13. Oh Wilf...I have an excellent smoothie recipe that will make Kelly not run quite so fast...she'll be much easier to keep up with dear boy...

We hope she'll be there again this afternoon for you...how does a French chien get the name of Kelly, I'm just wonderin'....!!

Now rest up until you see her again!!

    Love and kisses,

    Miss Lacie Girlie

  14. Nice to be reminded our hearts stay young. I remember my father, after he had somewhat recovered from the death of his wife and my mother, noting he would never marry again but that he did "miss the scent of a woman." You don't need to chase her, Wilfie; let her chase you :).

  15. Oh Wilf, Springers are hard to keep up with no matter a fellow's age. There used to be one who lived down the road from us. We had an elderly Chow Chow at the time named Max, and whenever we'd meet up with this Tigger like canine, the spaniel who simply spend the time jumping back and forth over Max's back. He would look up at us and sigh.

Best to dream of lady sheepdogs.

She doesn't care how fast or far you can run; she likes you for you! It's that PON charm that gets 'em all the time.
