One step forward, two steps back

A marvellous start to yesterday, Digby's temperature fell and everyone was feeling upbeat. Then in the afternoon it began to rise again and it was off to the vet for another cortisone shot and a change of antibiotics as a blood test showed he still had too many white cells.

On waking this morning we thought he had vanished in the night but a quick search revealed he was hiding behind the bedroom curtain. His appetite has still not recovered and he's very sleepy. Will update later.

  1. Could it be possible that with the drop in his temperature he overdid himself a little bit? You know how it is with us humans, as soon as we begin to feel better we do too much and then we are back in bed. Maybe he should be restricted a bit so he rests more when he feels a little better.

I have a strong feeling that, yes, this disease will take its toll on all of you but he will pull through. He's a fighter and look what he's overcome.

Oftentimes animals will go to hide when they don't feel well and don't want the rest of the pack to know. They feel vulnerable and that's not a good feeling for anyone, man or beast.

    Continues prayers coming your way.

  6. I know all too well the highs and lows of illness in our pups, and know the strength it takes to continue on--So Angus, know that just as I've been praying for Digby to regain his health, you and "the font" are included that you may also continue to have strength to get through this as well!! Thank-you for the update!

  7. Dear Angus and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know your feelings all too well. Those pups wrap their little paws around your heart and squeeze.

Digby is a fighter and I'm hoping that this rally will continue.

    Hugs to all,

  8. Your update was hiding below others more recent -- and we panicked until we found it. It sounds as though Digby is still fighting the good fight. We decided he must have a few terrier genes for for all this tenacity and fighting spirit!!

We're sending our continued constant thoughts and prayers to you and the font -- and have been wondering how Wilf is handling all this.

  11. It sounds like a very turbulent up and down day. I do feel some optimism though - it really sounds like Digby is a fighter extraordinaire. So are you.

I have an admission - I've never been able to tell the two boyz apart in your photos. But, if that's Digby sitting up in all those photos, he certainly looks stronger than the other day.

My thoughts are with you. Try to stay strong. You love and attention undoubtedly are making a huge difference to Digby!

maybe you can try some enzyme syrup to help bring his apptite back.
it works well with Ginger n Buddy when they get a cold or something n lose their appetite.
Just keep him warm nd hydratd.maybe just sips of soup. Please see if u can use a large dropper to help him drink if he is unwilling to do it himself
