The fluffy jester.

A cool, overcast start to the day. An early outrider signalling that Autumn is on its way. Wilf does not like to get up in the dark. He segued seamlessly from his 'What time do you think this is?' routine to his 'You must be joking!' glare before settling on that old paws over the eyes standby 'I'm invisible - leave me alone'. Not bad. Barely six in the morning and our resident, fluffy jester has already made me laugh out loud .

I called out 'croissants' while picking up the car keys and opening the front door. Within a split second 25 kilos of hitherto comatose Polish Lowland Sheepdog came hurtling along the corridor and down the stairs to join me . As we walked over to the car Wilf gave me his best ' what's been keeping you ?' look. Neither snow, nor rain, nor overcast morning stays a PON from the swift completion of his bakery visits.

  2. Hi Angus! I wish I could somehow teach our boy Sam that darkness means we're not going for a walk, but he's on a tight schedule and wants to maintain that! However, just as the word 'croissants' gets Wilf moving (it would me too!) the word 'cookie' gets our entire crew to its feet to rejoice and sing my praises!

  3. Aww! I wish I could see that routine on video! The best part is at the end when they figure you've forgotten about how determined they were not to get up to start with!

  4. We used to have an aged wire fox terrier who was deaf as a post... Until she heard the ice tray crack or a bag of potato chips opening around cocktail hour. Apparently the promise of a salty crisp and a Canadian Club soaked ice cube can work miracles!

That house with the flowering container garden made me sigh out loud. Picture postcard perfect.

  5. I adore the last photo - well truthfully I adore them all - Wilf always makes me smile - he reminds me so much of my Carrleigh.

  7. Posy would love croissants too. Our codeword for her treats is "c-o-o" as in cookies. If you dared say that word you better be read to fork one over. A beautiful weekend to you all.

  8. Edward puts his paws over his eyes too.
Must be a commonality of the PONs.

  12. Jack is the same way. Sometimes, 'SIT' means nothing, but if I spell 'C O O K I E', he's there by the time I get to the second O :)

  14. I'm not much of an early riser either. Sometimes when I worked and got up early, my dogs would snooze in bed while I got ready for work. Always made me so jealous that I couldn't do the same!
