Precedence .

Clocks forward by an hour over the weekend . Pitch dark when we set off into town on the morning croissant run . Not that Wilf is bothered . He settles down under the cafes corner table oblivious to the jarring neon light and the glow from the television above the bar . Waitress, bowl of water, and illicit half croissant follow soon after . Angus has to wait for his coffee. Here in rural France small, shaggy , polar bears take precedence .

Croissant finished , chat with the waitress done , he puts his head on my foot and drifts gently off to sleep , unconcerned about the noise and bustle around him . Not a bad way to start a new week. '' That which God said to the rose, and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty, He said to my heart , and made it a hundred times more beautiful " . Old PON wisdom .

  4. So what's wrong with the PON being served first? Wish it would happen with us....we're not even allowed near a cafe.

  7. the light and shadow in that last picture of our beloved wee bear seems almost like a renassisance painting to me. i love it.
it perfectly fits his lines of wisdom today.
    started me off right.
birds are very busy here today. i think they're using megaphones!

  8. We had the clock change a few weeks ago. The early morning darkness isn's enjoyable -- but we do enjoy the later light in the evening. Always a trade off!

I love the first photo of Wilf with his furry paws together -- waiting for the congregation to be seated so he can share this particularly lovely bit of PON wisdom!

  12. I love that quote today! I'm not surprised that Wilf got first service. If I go somewhere with the dogs, everybody knows us, but if I'm alone, I'm anonymous! I suppose that's harder for you to pull off in France, unless you revert to Swedish! (still laughing about that)

  16. Mazel tov on the 1400th post - and Wilf's endurance. Looking forward to seeing him enjoy a celebratory gourmet meal for his birthday. Did you ever get the well working, or have you just abandoned it? Doesn't anyone in the village already belong to the co-op, so they could just buy the ice cream and get reimbursed?
