There will be laughter and mischief in heaven tonight.
Digby lived by the adage " Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin ! ". He stood tall but this morning the grass grew taller . We will miss him.
I will miss him too. He was a character and a half. You and his brother got more time with him than you thought - it gives time to think and say goodbye and adjust....but I still chocked, just a tad.......
You gave Digby so much love that his life was filled with happiness. Although these past couple of weeks have been terribly hard, Digby had a life that many dogs dream of, surrounded by you, the Font, and Wilf.
Run free and roll in the green grass of heaven, sweet Digby.
I will be thinking of you and your family. Take care of each other as you grieve and find peace.
Digby, Fawewell sweet Fwiend. You lived so well..I just wish it could have been longew, but just as we knew..you picked youw time and place..I'll nevew fowget you. Ouw love and condolences to youw Bwothew wilf , the Font and Angus
I hope we get to meet in heaven some day love and smoochie kisses ASTA and mommi
My heart is just broken for you this morning. It is always so difficult to say good-bye. But what a treasure you had in your lives. Thank you for giving Digby such a wonderful life and for giving him so much love and dignity at the end. My heart is with you all. Run free, sweet Digby.
We hold you all and Digby close in our hearts. These words have helped us during some real hard times; perhaps you too.
As long as you remember me, my love will fill your heart and help to ease the sorrow that you feel while we're apart. With thoughts of me, perhaps you'll see the wonder of each day, the joy of sunlit afternoons, and nature's grand display.
As long as you remember me, I always will be near to lend you sweet tranquility as nighttime stars appear. The bond that we have shared will link from me to you to give you hope for brighter days and strength to see you through.
With love, love and more love, Cheyanne and her family
We are at a loss for words. A total loss. Our heart breaks for you ... and we wish we could wipe away some of the pain. What a sweet sweet dog we came to know, for too short a period of time. Once again we are reminded of the amazing love that one of God's furry creatures can bring to so many. We find solace only in knowing that today Digby romps with Jackson, greeting each other at the Bridge, running free with the wind, sending love on the breezes.
Through tears and with love, Jake and Fergi, Sally and Nina
Angus, I knew this day would come soon, but I was so dreading seeing it down in black and white. My heart aches for you, the Font, the boys and especially for Wilf.
Digby was such a fortunate little guy to have such a loving family who loved him, cared for him and kept his dignity intact.
Run free sweet Digby and if you see a goofy Chocolate Lab waiting for you at the bridge, give him a big old snoof from the Rocky Creek Gang.
Run free, Digby. I didn't even know you, and I'm going to miss you too -- but not nearly as much as your family does.
Dear Angus, Font, and family, sending hugs and prayers to you all from California. May you have some small amount of comfort from knowing that dog lovers all over the world are thinking of you today and wish they could ease your pain.
For all, the struggle comes to an end sooner or later. Digby may be gone, but he will never be forgotten, not even by those of us who only knew him via your wonderfully vivid blog. He blessed your lives and you gave much in return. Extra cuddles to Wilf - I hope he is not too lonely. Lots of love, Gail and Bertie.
We will miss him too. Just because we were prepared for the journey to end doesn't make it any easier.
You may not have met one of our wirey pals, Jackson from the UK. Unlike Digby, he has been fighting serious ailments for the last few years. Well, he too decided it was time to go last night -- and we hope he and Digby share their laughter and mischief together as they become whole again over the Bridge.
Angus, our hearts ache for and with you and the font and Wilf.
His life was great, and so was his fight. We didn't get the pleasure of getting to meet you dear friend, but we know that there are angels celebrating in heaven for you are there to give them sweet kisses.
Run free dear Digby. And when you see our beloved Tookie waiting at the Bridge, please give him a big smooch for all of us.
Oh Angus. Tears this morning for the loss of your wee lad who's adventures and trials you kindly shared with us. We will never forget brave and sweet Digby. He will remain in all our hearts forever.
Pamela and Edward sent me your way- Digby was a little prince, I send Wilf much sympathy, he will suffer perhaps more than all. I am glad you have Wilf to ease some of this loss. pgt
As my tears fall all I can say is Rest In Peace, Digby.... Our thoughts and prayers are with the ones left behind. But know that Digby will be running and playing today, waiting for you at the Rainbow's Bridge.
THANK YOU for letting me share your amazing life adventures all this time. It is heartbreaking to know you won't be out there causing trouble with your goofy brother.
Angus, Font, you let him decide and to me that proves you two are wonderfully caring people.
Wilf, this will be difficult for you buddy but your people will be there to hold you& give you tons of love. (When Monte lost his litter mate by tragedy years ago he was "lost" for a long time.... but he pulled through with our love and you will do the same.)
HUGE hugs your way, hope you can feel them, head to the "dog farm" whenever you feel like it.
As much as we hoped this day wouldn't come, we see that sadly, it has. We know Digby is romping in Heaven, giving his shaggy head a quick shake, a little puzzled as to how young and healthy he feels...then accepting quickly he takes off for a run among the flowers...
It is a beautiful day here in Pittsburgh. We intend to take a walk and reflect on the lives of Digby and Jackson, whom we also lost today.
I came here from House of Edward....My heart lurches with the pain you must be feeling today.....I am so sorry for your loss...It hurts me to know how you must be feeling...Blessings to you...and to Digby.
Digby will always be with you, in your hearts and memories. You may think you see him, out of the corner of your eye, in his favorite spot, just going down the stair - he's now a part of you that will be there always.
oh Digby, we were one tough kiddo. you fought the good fight. now there is a bright star in the sky. we will think of you when we look towards heaven. rest easy, little friend.
we're sorry for your loss, Wilf and Angus and the font. we're glad that Digby gave you enough time to say goodbye. we hope that you can find some comfort in the pages of this blog and all of you wonderful memories.
we're furry sowy for your loss and we're going to tell our angel brofur chico to meet him at the gates to show him all the fun stuff at the rainbow bridge. until we all meet again they'll be running free.
OH Digby. We are without words now that you have left. We kept putting off dropping by this morning. Now we know why. To you, the "font" and dear Wilf, we will keep you in our hearts as you grieve Digby's passing. When you give your heart to a dog to tear..... They leave holes in our hearts, but oh what they give while they are here. We hope that looking back on the last 9 years will bring you smiles and memories full of the joy he brought. This is an intensley personal journey you shared. Thank you. Run with the wind dear Digby. Perhaps you have already met Jackson WFT who was another valient fighter. We hope you meet our Shamus who is but a 9 month old puppy who will love to play ball with you. And countless other well loved dogs who have preceeded you to heaven. This poem is one I put up for Shamus, perhaps it applies to Digby too.... I'LL WAIT FOR YOU I got to the gate of Heaven today after we said goodbye. I began to miss you terribly because I heard you cry. Suddenly ther was an Angel and she asked me to enter Heaven's gate. I asked her if I could stay outside for someone who would be late. "I wouldn't make much noise you see. I wouldn't bark or howl. I'd only sit here patiently and play with my tennis ball." The angel said I could stay right there And wait for you to come. Because Heaven wouldn't be Heaven, if I went in alone. You take your time, but keep me in your heart. Because Heaven won't be Heaven, without you to warm my heart. ANON I know Digby will stay in your hearts. I am so very sorry. Dear Wilf, in time you too will heal and realize he is gone from here, but you need not search for him. Gone from your sight for now, just for now. As Kyhra said, Digby did it his way. Digby with the heart the size of Texas. Angus you and the "font" did such a wonderful job with such an awful journey. I wish I had words to make some of the hurt go away. Well done. Very well done. ((((((((Sad Hugs)))))))))) Jamie and the Texas Sundogs
Can't express my sorrow. Just know we care deeply. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us - you have done it with dignity and grace. Susan, Jack & Mickey
We share in your sadness, but also rejoice in the joy and love that made up Digby's life. He will be with you always as are all the ones we have loved and lost.
Woofs, Purrs and Hugs, From everyone at The Poupounette
We are soooo, soooo sorry! Digby put up a tremendous fight, as did our pal Jackson! We hope they arrived together at the Rainbow Bridge paw in paw and will play with all our buddies who arrived there before them. Run free, Digby!
Angus, I know that no words can take away the sting of the loss of your precious Digby. Just know that I'm so very, very sorry!! I will light a candle for Digby to help him find his way to the place where he can stir up mischief and laughter and wait for you, the Font and Wilf to someday join him.
We are so sorry to read about the sad news. Reading through your previous posts showed that Digby did live a fun and loved life and this matters a lot. We are also grateful that because of him, we have found you and your friendship.
We will constantly read about the memories he has left behind and we keep our paws crossed for you and your family.
Run free at the Rainbow Bridge and watch over Wilf and your family from heaven.
It is a sad day indeed. We share the weight of your loss, just as we do with all of our friends who leave for the Rainbow Bridge. Our thoughts are with you. When I lost my boy Devo to cancer at age 10, I struggled to understand how God could let this happen. This poem counter-balanced some of the questions in my mind.
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.... God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. so he put his arms around you, and whispered "Come with Me" With tear filled eyes I watched you suffer and fade away. Although I loved you deeply I could not make you stay. A precious heart stopped beating, my beautiful boy put to rest. God broke my heart ....to prove to me > He only takes the best <
Oh Angus! I am so, so sad for you and your family! I know your heart is breaking. You were wonderful to dear Digby...no dog could ask for more! I am sending you all lots of love and warmth. "There's one more angel in heaven, There's one more star in the sky, Digby we'll never forget you, It's tough but we gonna get by!" Our sincerest condolences! With love MAXMOM AND THE MAXPACK IN SOUTH AFRICA
Wilf, Agnus, Font, The boys There will be a bright star in the sky tonight for a little white polish, Scottish, Italian, French dog. Digby captured many hearts and will be remembered fondly. Run free Digby you will be missed by many.
How lucky you were to have him in your lives, to be able to bring him home and to let him feel the sunshine in his last days. Digby was also a pretty lucky dog to have you guys. We are all thinking of you.
Oh how sorry we are - we only knew Digby for a short time, but in that time, found that he had such a huge heart. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family and Wilf. Rest in Peace, Digby. Hugs xo Sammie and family
Digby has enriched so many lives and was shown such love. Run Free sweet Digby, at the Bridge you are whole again, no pain and you are meeting all of our furkins that have gone before. We will watch for his star in the night sky.
Thank you for sharing Digby's story with us. He is free to run and play now. My thoughts are with your family and Wilf during this difficult time. :: hugs :: from Virginia, US.
Dear Digby, Go in peace, go with pride. you were a GREAT DOG while you were here on earth,so deeply loved by all who knew you. and we know, you will be as well loved in heaven. we will miss u Digby ang we promise, we will forever remember u. Dear Angus, 'Font' n Wilf, If words give u some peace in this hour of sorrow, we would like u to know that in the little time that we knew him, your Digby was very dearly loved by all of us in this family.with tears we say goodbye but Digby will be in our hearts. with time maybe your hurt will lessen..dear wilf, please understand that ur brother is in a happy place, free from all pain.
We are so incredibly sorry for your loss, but love how you have shared the spirit of Digby with all of us. We have crossed our paws and asked members of The Herd at the Bridge to welcome Digby.
Shedding tears for you all from way down here in New Zealand... Digby is loved all over the world. Just shattered to hear he has gone, the ticks won, and, as a vet, totally frustrated that it had to be this way. This must be so hard for you. You must be so drained. May you savour the memories of Digby and hug Wilf closer. fi
Dear Angus, the Font, and wilf, As the day has gone on, many have posted on the loss of Digby and Jackson as well. Not only myself but others. Like ripples in a pond as the news of dear Digby's & Jackson's passing spread more and more posts were dedicated. If you read only one, Petey's is my very favorite. Petey put into words what I was seeing in my head. So much so that I added a link on my post. I hope if you decide to read some of them, they bring you some smiles. We remain grateful to your courage in sharing this journey with us. Please take care of yourselves as the mental and physical fatigue has reached epic proportions I am sure. It is sometimes a huge shock to the system when the fight ends and one is left feeling without a purpose, as that purpose has been the fight for so many days, weeks. This I know from my own experience as well as observing it in families. Rest, knowing y'all did the very best job that could possibly be done. Hugs to all of you, a big hug to Wilf. We hope it is ok if we still stop by your gate to visit. We have grown to love not just Digby, but all of you. Here is the link for Petey's blog. http://peteysplayhouse.blogspot.com God Bless & Well done Sunny&Scooter ( and Jamie) The Texas Sundogs The Texassundogs
My heart was touched by the beautiful Digby. My angel brother Braise will surely take him under his wing. We are so sad for you, but we are happy Digby has moved on to his new life without the pain. Huge hugs, Lots of love. Major

Would like to share it. Fay & family
Dedicated to all who have loved and lost a companion animal
~FROM THEM, THOSE WHO AWAIT US~
To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you. For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly. For all of these things I am grateful and thankful. I ask that you grieve not for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as owner, but as my friend. Today, I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump and play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging. We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever. You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are very rare and unique.
For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.
They whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are.
Sending soft woofies kisses to all of you there and especially to Wilf. I am glad to have known about Digby here on earth, thanks so much for sharing his life with us. He will live on in our hearts forever.
We were so sorry to hear about Digby this afternoon. We were hoping he'd win the battle. We'll have a group howl for him later this week when the weather gets nice again.
angus, the font, and wilf, i am so so sorry, and i can't even think what to say. please know that i am sending comfort and hugs to you...i know how much it hurts. sweet digby will be sorely missed, but take heart that he is running free and will be looking down upon you always. *hugs* the booker man and asa's mama
Dear Wilf and Family ... our deepest condolences. May your love for each other sustain you through your loss. Digby was a brave little guy. Thanks you for allowing us to be a part of his story. Our loss is Heaven's gain!
Love Petey, Jack, Spunky, Tabitha, Madison and Momma!
Tonight when I look into the clear sky over Michigan I will look for a bright and new star - one with a little mischief in its eye - one that sails through the deep blue expanse with a little bounce now and then - crisp and shining and new.
Digby, you lived with such happiness and you died with such grace. You will be dearly missed because you were so dearly loved.
I am new to your blog as of a few seconds ago and I do not know the entire history of Digby but I know he was loved and I know how many friends he had and the lives he touched (via the many comments) and I can only say that I am so sorry for your loss.
Tomorrow we will celebrate Digby's life but tonight we will grieve his passing. Our most sincere and deepest sympathy to those he loved and left behind. We know how much Digby's was loved and his spirit will live on in your hearst because he has left a scar upon them that will you forever. - The Bumpass Hounds and Kitties
My introduction to Digby comes on the day of his loss. I hope he was with you for many years and that you'll soon think of him with smiles instead of tears. Sherry, Miro and Alanis
I'm so so sorry to hear this! I feel like I've lost one of my own. He put up such a valiant fight. You did all you could for him and loved him right to the end. Sending you all hugs! Pass on extra pats to Wilf.
Fly free and fearless...just as you lived, dear Digby.
And God asked the canine spirit Are you ready to come home? Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul And, as a dog, you know I am most able To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God. Soon, replied the whiskered angel But I must come slowly For my human friends are troubled For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God That you'll never leave them? That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity? That nothing is created or destroyed? It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand, Replied the glorious dog For I will whisper into their hearts That I am always with them I just am....forever and ever and ever.
I've arrived here from The House of Edward blog to offer my deep and sincere sympathy for the loss of your precious Digby. John Lame Deer, Rosebud Lakota says: "Love is something that you can leave behind when you die--it's that powerful." But you already know this.
Happy trails, Digby until you all meet again. Susan (Ohio)
I'm so sorry about your loss. We were rooting for Digby to fight through, and wow, did he fight. But it seemed heaven needed one more angel tonight. No doubt Angel Digby is watching over you from heaven. My Angel T-man should be there to meet him at the bridge. Big hugs for you, the font and Wilf.
Run Digby....run over the bridge to meet your pals: Java, snickers, Puffy, our Ryan and Bonnie..run with all of them forever now... We are so very sorry Angus and Wilf.. Love, Nancy & critters
Angus: We were saddened to hear about Digby passing away. He seemed to be quite the character. And very independent from his adventure downstairs that one morning. From one independent soul to another I can understand his need to head downstairs. I know that you are all sad right now, but soon you will be able to think of Digby in only happiness. Love Marlene & Sable
So sorry for your tremendous loss; our hearts are heavy for you tonight...Wishing you comfort and peace at this difficult time...Love is an energy that never dies...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
Hello Angus, Wilf & family ~ I have come over from Pamela Terry's blog to let you know that my heart is so saddened for your loss. What a marvelous woofer your Digby was!! And what a struggle you have all had in these last days - never, ever easy, this damn road of letting go...
It is near midnight here in the Pacific Northwest of USA but tomorrow me & my dawg will run & bark, play some frisbee and then take a 'time out,' a quiet few moments to honor Digby...a fellow canine deeply loved by his humans...
Warm regards from your friends, Christi & Isla(dawg)
I have seen Digby's name on many a blog lately and someone was kind enough to share the link. Rest in beautiful peace sweet baby and I hope you're having a blast in heaven. Tell my furkins that went before me hello for me. XoXo

ReplyDeleteAlthough we knew it was coming, it is still the shock when we sit it -
ReplyDeleteHe'll have some great company in the name of Jackson the WFT who also put up quite a fight before crossing in his sleep last night/this morning-
We've also lost Lena Horne - another fighter in her own time -
For some reason as I started this comment, I began to hear the voice of Frank Sinatra -
And I believe I see Digby nodding in agreement that "I did it my way" -
We'll be looking to the sky tonight to see two new stars - it is exceptionally clear here today so tonight's sky will be incredible -

I am so sorry. So, so sorry.
ReplyDeleteOH Digby. We are without words now that you have left. We kept putting off dropping by this morning. Now we know why. To you, the "font" and dear Wilf, we will keep you in our hearts as you grieve Digby's passing. When you give your heart to a dog to tear.....
ReplyDeleteThey leave holes in our hearts, but oh what they give while they are here.
I'LL WAIT FOR YOU
I got to the gate of Heaven today
after we said goodbye.
I began to miss you terribly
because I heard you cry.
Suddenly ther was an Angel
and she asked me to enter Heaven's gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside
for someone who would be late.
"I wouldn't make much noise you see.
I wouldn't bark or howl.
I'd only sit here patiently and play with my tennis ball."
The angel said I could stay right there
And wait for you to come.
Because Heaven wouldn't be Heaven,
if I went in alone.
You take your time, but keep me in your heart.
Because Heaven won't be Heaven,
without you to warm my heart.
ANON
I know Digby will stay in your hearts.

ReplyDeleteHE ONLY TAKES THE BEST....
God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
so he put his arms around you,
and whispered "Come with Me"
With tear filled eyes I watched
you suffer and fade away.
Although I loved you deeply
I could not make you stay.
A precious heart stopped beating,
my beautiful boy put to rest.
God broke my heart
....to prove to me
> He only takes the best <
We are so sorry to hear that Digby has gone to the Bridge. We send comforting purrs to all of you who are missing him so very much...

We are so incredibly sorry for your loss, but love how you have shared the spirit of Digby with all of us. We have crossed our paws and asked members of The Herd at the Bridge to welcome Digby.
ReplyDeleteShedding tears for you all from way down here in New Zealand... Digby is loved all over the world. Just shattered to hear he has gone, the ticks won, and, as a vet, totally frustrated that it had to be this way.
ReplyDeleteThis must be so hard for you. You must be so drained.
May you savour the memories of Digby and hug Wilf closer.

Dear Angus, the Font, and wilf,
ReplyDeleteAs the day has gone on, many have posted on the loss of Digby and Jackson as well.

Dear Angus & family,
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry to hear about brave sweet Digby. Tears are flowing here in California.
Hugs to you all. Angus ,thank-you for sharing your lives.Wilf we look forward to continuing to share yours as you heal from this loss.
The following was posted on the Col.Potter blog, written by an unknown author. Would like to share it. Fay & family
Dedicated to all who have loved and lost a companion animal
~FROM THEM, THOSE WHO AWAIT US~
To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never
loved at all.
For all of the times that you stooped and touched my head, fed me my
favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave
to you. For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly. For all of
these things I am grateful and thankful. I ask that you grieve not
for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched
each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as owner, but as my
friend. Today, I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green,
butterflies flit among the flowers and the sun shines gently down
upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump and play and do all of
the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching
joints and no regrets and no aging. We await the arrival of our
lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever. You live
in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are very rare
and unique.
For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as
we are.
They whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before.
They are now wherever we are.
tears are falling in california, so sorry
ReplyDeleteHugs to you all. Fay & family

Fly free and fearless...just as you lived, dear Digby.
ReplyDeleteAnd God asked the canine spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a dog, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious dog
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.
Our hearts are with you today.

Angus: We were saddened to hear about Digby passing away. He seemed to be quite the character. And very independent from his adventure downstairs that one morning.
