Mystery .

A mystery of dog ownership. Daytime pit stops can be accomplished in forty five seconds . Two o'clock in the morning pit stops, with Angus standing at the front door in nothing more than a dressing gown and bare feet , require at least ten minutes of unhurriable flower sniffing and garden exploration. Why?

  4. If they have to get you up, then they must make it worthwhile. It's only polite.

  5. Because dogs don't understand the need for clothes and at night there's no need to hurry as coconut icecream and sausages are not usually imminent!!

  6. It is a mystery--But perhaps this time Wilf knew that you both were affectionately being talked about when I met Bella, Kendra and Daisy's Mom at about the same time.

  8. Amazing, isn't it - and the colder/wetter/snowier it is outside, the longer it takes.

  10. It usually takes 20 mins when it's negative outside at 3 am..right. I've always wondered that myself..especially in the freezing sleeting snow right before bed, when I have skipped going to the bathroom myself to take them out. Always takes 2x as long in the mornings when I'm running late for class.

  12. Well, maybe there has been a mysterious visitor- badger, mouse, cat what so ever is interesting to lovely Wilfie...
Once Foxiie fell over the cliff and hung in the Ginestra and I was desperate where he was .... we had 10000 angels that night...

  13. I agree the smells at night are more pungent with fewer distractions. I have been crating Shiloh at night (my free-roam Beagle) lest I hear him BAWLING to 2 AM and past! On the other hand, Wilf knows he is well loved and making Angus stand in the doorway simply confirms the love.

  14. I don't know why... but it starts in puppy hood with 2 AM forays into the backyard in rain and wind that 6 year old dogs now avoid like the plague. Like Jack's Dad said; it's dog doors and fenced yards for us!!

  16. I think its called Murphy's Law!! After having so many animals at home, I never question anymore. Just kind of roll with the punches. If its 2 a.m. or having to clean up a mess when I get home.....but we love them to bits, don't we?!!! Keep on going Wilf, clever boy!!

With love from your Canadian pals,

  17. If I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't be standing outside in the middle of the night either!

    What an amazing blue sky!

  18. What a wonderful question! I think sometimes they just have to remind us that they have some say in what is going on about them :)
