15 days since we had the results of the scan and the old fellow is still happily playing away, eating voraciously and barking heartily at the post lady. Perhaps his movements are a little slower each day but he's pain free and enjoying life. Digby, Wilfs little brother, passed away so quickly with piroplasmosis that we never had a chance to spoil him. We wanted to give him special meals and treats but his appetite just disappeared overnight. With Wilf its different. He now gets a small taster of whatever it is we're having to eat mixed in with his kibbles. This meets with an inordinately high degree of canine approval. Last night it was Lamb Biryani and a post dinner look from Wilf that said 'this is what lifes all about ! '.
In the window of an art store a nineteenth century etching of a puppy. The title roughly translated - ' Don't bother me '. Somehow the artist has managed to get the puppy look of defiance just right.
Lamb biryani? wow! Dom would surely like some of that. I am glad he's pain free. Spoil him.. do spoil him a lot. My love to Wilfee.

ReplyDeleteI love his hairdo today!
I'm so happy that you have time to shower Wilf with love, treats, and fancy meals. Lamb Biryani - wow. My dogs' tummies would not be able to handle that but they don't have the experience that Wilf does.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the etching. The eyes are absolutely perfect. I've seen that look in R's eyes many many times.
I would love lamb briyani..in fact i would have some tbis evening. Living in Saudi Arabia has its advantages too, melting pot of many cultures.

ReplyDelete15 days...Mirabile Dictu!
Goes to show that, indeed, we know "neither the time nor the day"
You keep on going strong Wilfee; you are in our thoughts always.
I think I may cook Lamb Biryani for dinner and BB will get a taste.
Isabelle, the Maman.
I regret that we never saw Edward as a puppy. We adopted him when he was almost one. I look at PON puppy photographs and see what he might have looked like. Off course, as you well know, these guys never quite lose their puppyhoods.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that Wilf is relishing these days. May they keep coming!
My arthritis has flared up, can I come eat at your house. I have not had decent lamb since I left France in 1970.

ReplyDeleteI love that drawing and the name of it fits perfectly!
Having never seen a PON puppy, I thought the puppy picture was Wilf! He seems to have his own defiance of medical prognosis. Rock on, Wilfee! and eat, enjoy, be merry...
ReplyDeleteGot just a moment on the computer(remember we have no internet here yet) Am so glad Wilf is being properly spoiled!!!! Miracles do happen. You are seeing one methinks. I would love to be able to hug the wilf, give him a scritch! though you may not hear from us often, we are holding Wilf and all of y'all in our hearts. Party on dude! Enjoy each moment-as we should whether we think we are leaving or not, hu?
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You
Had the luxury of reading your last 6 posts. I have 2 old dogs. what we seem to take for granted is the joy of each day with them no matter what their age. sadly some live very short lives. Just makes one realize none of us or our dogs are guaranteed any time but this moment. Old dogs. They have been teaching us all their lives, and speed up those lessons when they become older. It is really quite amazing. T
ReplyDeleteThrough the blogoshphere we all learn from others. Such as 2 PONS brothers in France.
Thank heaven for our dogs.
Hugs from Texas
we're happy that Wilf is happy and being indulged. every dog deserves that, especially Wilf and especially now. vets aren't always right you know....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy each moment. Just as you are. Just as we all should.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great example....
