Off early to get the annual check up on the trusty old Volkswagen. While the car was being serviced went with Wilf to look at a more fuel efficient replacement model. This one gets 85 miles to the gallon. We could drive from Toulouse to London on one tank and still have gas left over. Most importantly it's highly compact, easy to park in those tiny French streets and the back seats fold flat to make a large sleeping area for a certain senior dog. Thought of getting one until the young salesman told me the price - €19,200 and that's for a basic model in black. Add on luxuries like metallic paint and a radio and you're in Cadillac territory. Told Wilf we'd wait to do our bit for the planet until the electric cars go on sale next year. On our way out he carefully christened each of the tyres on a huge new gas guzzling SUV. Wilf the environmentalist, anarchist PON.

The anarchist PON's three categories of walk.
1) RORH - Rush out, rush home
2) ROSH - Rush out, saunter home
3) SOSH - Saunter out, saunter home
This morning was a SOSH. The smells were excellent and got Wilfs good housekeeping seal of approval. We almost matched our hour and a half sauntering and sniffing record.

You MUST have the fold down seat and electric windows, so Wilf can scan the country side. We call it cat scans. Glad he showed his displeasure at the SUV.

Urmm.. every new car deserves to be christened :D and Wilf is just doing a awfully good deed! Way to go PON :)
ReplyDeleteOooh I want a car that get 85 mp gallon.....but with that price I don't think it's going to happen. Especially when I'm already saving up for a Tesla ;)
ReplyDeleteGo Wilf! You tell what you think of those SUVs. An environmentalist for sure.
I dream of gas mileage like that, but I guess it comes with a high price! Oh, the irony! We all want to do better for the environment, but we can't afford it.
ReplyDeleteWilf, I believe short, sweet political statements are the best!
I luvs your stuffie Wilf! Good for you showing your contempt for those big SUVs as only a pup can do!

PeeS come visit my bloggie :)
Wow, why can't we get cars like that over here!!!
ReplyDeleteMy dogs have to go through the garage to get to the backyard. I try to let them out every couple of hours (they almost never ask to go out) and every single time I do, they always walk around my car and christen each tire.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Wilf!!! However, I have to admit that we drive high-clearance 4wd vehicles... but we have an excuse - we actually need them to make it home in the winter! Sometimes, we even need tire chains in addition to the 4wd.
ReplyDeleteWe have our eyes on electric cars for the summer... but the price needs to come down A LOT!
85 miles a gallon would be wonderful, but that is expensive for such a small car! i hope the technology becomes more prevalent soon so the prices will drop.
ReplyDeletewe do a lot of ROSHes at my house. :)
Hello, My name is Elizabeth of Creative Breathing. I have a crafting blog, not at all about dogs; so it is quite by accident that I have discovered your most wonderful blog and adventures of Wilf. I have written about a favorite childhood memory regarding sheepdogs and have introduced my readers to Wilf and where they can follow his journey discovering France. It is such a pleasure to know about this happy place. Thank you, Elizabeth
