Austerity chic .

Grey, wet , and drizzly . Real Scottish weather - but warmer . Wilf , the master artisan , sensibly spends much of his morning in the kitchen . The Christmas Gravlax given a lip smacking score of 11 / 10 by our canine gourmet. The lunchtime Magret de canard caramelise also given a score of 11/10.

In fact Wilf seems to have an 11/10 level of enthusiasm for everything that's being prepared . A small sliver of short crust pastry from a mince pie scores 12/10 and elicits a 'Christmas must have come early ' sigh of contentment. He yawns and opts for a doze . By the time he wakes up the sun has broken through the clouds .

Outside the mayors secretary decorates the box hedge around the war memorial with Christmas baubles. Austerity chic . After the street lights and the bus stop there clearly wasn't much money left in the village budget .

  1. I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. Jack gave it an 11 too. I think there's a trend there! :)

  2. Seems like grade inflation has struck the Wilf household this morning....

  3. Perhaps Wilf can use the Christmas baubles for target practice when he is on his christening rounds.

  4. Oooh, i didn't see the Christmas baubles on the memorial ! That's the real French touch...
Sweet Wilf is a "fin gourmet", as we say in France, but the fact is that his mother, Lady Font, is a true "cordon bleu" ! And Angus, a "fin palais" ! More french than french themselves.
Have a lovely Thursday. Bisous to the beloved Wilfee.

  9. Wilf - Christmas is already here - your humans are outstanding - so happy he is still around and keeps going - it is a miracle.

  10. sophistication in the little village in france profonde! had to laugh at 10NISNE1's comment above... wilfee will have to have a much higher aim!! but it's an endearing thought.

  11. Yesterday I had half of a day old sandwich for lunch at my office accompanied by the sounds of an industrial vacuum cleaner operated by our office painter. No dogs were present for a rating but the sandwich was pretty good. Then I left to wander around downtown Anchorage. I give my experience a 10/10!

Never thought of decorating a hedge! That gets a 8/10 from me!

  12. I wish I had as sophisticated a palette as Wilf! I'm drooling just thinking about all he's eating. I can just imagine how well he'll be dining this weekend!

Well, it's the decorating thought that counts, I suppose. Perhaps they were going for a minimalist decorating scheme...

  13. Bless that wee dog and his excellent rating score! I wonder how well they do taste? As long as its lip smacking, then bring it on! Keep on going Wilf, lovely boy!
