There's life in this old dog yet .

First insulin injection at six thirty. Second twelve hours later. In between four, small, but regular meals . A mixture of 30% i/d and 70% w/d works a treat. Half a pain killer in the afternoon and a Cortisone tablet every other day .

Morning and afternoon ambles - ten minutes , max, if its wet and arthritis inducing. Half an hour if it's warm and dry . Sometimes a quick doze in the grass by the cows field . An illicit half croissant from the waitress every morning . A taste of human food after every meal - the undoubted highlights of the day . Lot's and lot's of sleep . Reassurance as required, and then some more for good measure. Peals of laughter.

As any old PON will tell you ' the purpose of life is a life of purpose ' . Somehow , against all the odds, there's life in this old dog yet.

  1. What special friends you two are - dear Wilf depends on you so much and he gives back so much love and laughter. Long may it continue.

  3. Wilf dear boy, so good to hear that you're still going strong. You are so lucky to have such wise humans to take care of you. There comes a stage in life where treats are not just allowed, but mandatory. Can you believe that the doctor told 90 year old HGD to cut back on the alcohol, when it's one of his few remaining pleasures?

  4. Wilf and Ongoose and Lady Font - what a team and what a success. Love from a house in Southern Italy where a puppy wins everybody - humans and dogs and cats - irresistable. Courage of a tiger - love wishing you endless days of grace Susanne, Daisy (very intruiged by little one) and Foxiie plus Kyril (he is ever so busy)

  9. Obviously an excellent prescription for keeping Wilf fit but you've forgotten the most important ingredient: love. Lots and lots of love. Both given and received.
