A day for strolling along in the quiet of the French countryside . Bright sunshine after yesterdays shroud of fog . Airports forgotten . We're joined at various points along the way by a friendly Wheatear, a pair of Redstarts, a noisy Hawfinch and an untroubled Woodlark . The calmer world of an old dog. One of the gifts of canine companionship . While Wilf naps in the long grass a Peregrine Falcon dances, swift, rolling pirouettes in the air above.

Refreshed after his quick doze we soon zig zag off again . The old fellow determinedly ploughing , head down, from on side of the lane to the other. When his paws touch the grass verge he knows it's time to change tack. Watching him amble along I can't help but think that here is a family fellow who lives with no excuses and loves with no regrets. A wise old PON.

  1. he is a wise old dog. And he's making us wiser as we journey with him, and you.

The day just looks like magic.

  2. Long may the stroll continue. Please pass along a kiss for that delicious polar bear/Pon nose x

  3. Our animals teach us so much - I have to learn to live with my ageing patterdale and a youngster full of beans and keep them all happy - I am so glad and thankful that Wilf is doing so well and enjoys every day -
bacetti sul nasino - love from Southern Italy Susanne, Daisy - Foxiie and puppy Kyril (Kiri)

  4. Wilf sure does know what he loves doesn't he? Let's hope this journey continues and may he enjoy it on his path. Wise old fellow indeed. Keep on going Wilf!

With love from your frozen solid Canadian pals,
Dianna along with Tor, Willow and Tucker

  5. A magical stroll with the indomitable Wilf, beautifully described.

  6. what a wonderful saying...
lives with no excuses and loves with no regrets. that's why he's still with us! his secret is contentment. wherever he is and whatever he's doing... he's happily content.
maybe he should be called lighthouse instead of wilf!
    he's my beloved little lighthouse,
hug him for me please. tell him it's from me!

  7. Lovely!! Wish we could stroll peacefully & at the same unhurried pace as Wilf!

  8. Well said, Tammy - my little ighthouse. I check on Wilf first thing each day - what a wonderful, gentle saunter.

  9. Wilf's thorns are abloom with roses.
    Love to all.

  10. Looks like you are not having much of a winter there. Love the photos and Wilf is still going along.

  11. If only we humans could live the same way! I'm glad you're having a mild winter for him to enjoy this year!

  12. We all should live like Wilf. :)

    Blessings and Love,
    Janelle and Maggie Mae

  13. What a wonderful way to decompress after such a long day of travel - and, on Wilf's part, of waiting.

    Jed & Abby

  14. Would you have taken time to stop and watch the antics of the falcon, were it not for dear old Wilf?
