Strolling.

A day for strolling along in the quiet of the French countryside . Bright sunshine after yesterdays shroud of fog . Airports forgotten . We're joined at various points along the way by a friendly Wheatear, a pair of Redstarts, a noisy Hawfinch and an untroubled Woodlark . The calmer world of an old dog. One of the gifts of canine companionship . While Wilf naps in the long grass a Peregrine Falcon dances, swift, rolling pirouettes in the air above.

Refreshed after his quick doze we soon zig zag off again . The old fellow determinedly ploughing , head down, from on side of the lane to the other. When his paws touch the grass verge he knows it's time to change tack. Watching him amble along I can't help but think that here is a family fellow who lives with no excuses and loves with no regrets. A wise old PON.

  3. Our animals teach us so much - I have to learn to live with my ageing patterdale and a youngster full of beans and keep them all happy - I am so glad and thankful that Wilf is doing so well and enjoys every day -

  4. Wilf sure does know what he loves doesn't he? Let's hope this journey continues and may he enjoy it on his path. Wise old fellow indeed. Keep on going Wilf!

lives with no excuses and loves with no regrets. that's why he's still with us! his secret is contentment. wherever he is and whatever he's doing... he's happily content.
maybe he should be called lighthouse instead of wilf!

  13. What a wonderful way to decompress after such a long day of travel - and, on Wilf's part, of waiting.

  14. Would you have taken time to stop and watch the antics of the falcon, were it not for dear old Wilf?
