Nooks and crannies .

To the garden centre. A Wilf favourite . A million nooks and crannies to explore . He has just started to sniff the palm trees when the sprinkler system kicks in . Amid the deluge of water and the hiss of pipes he turns 180 degrees and hurries outside . The agility of a puppy . A '' Boy is the weather changeable ! " urgency to his step .

A quick stop at the service station on the autoroute . Wilf and owner share a croissant . Wilf settles under the table and falls asleep. He's still asleep when he's lifted into the back of the car .The journey back accompanied by the gentle breathing of a happy dog . Home in time for a quick pre-lunch doze , on his back , in the downstairs hallway . The hectic life of a family PON who knows : '' If you're born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing ".

  3. No better thing to start the morning than to see Wilf snoozing contentedly on his back in the downstairs hallway.

  5. I love that quote!

I can just picture the scene in the garden shop! If that were our dogs, they'd have been SO offended! None of them are fans of rain!

  6. A very funny vision of what a dog must think when the sprinklers come on indoors! Wilf most definitely has sprouted wings.

  10. The same thing happens to me when the sprinklers come on, grocery store, garden shop, anywhere! I always get surprised too! Wilf is looking rather dashing today! Keep on going Wilf!

  11. Sounds like a thoroughly enjoyable day for a man and his dog. Surely a two croissant day [well, a two halves of a croissant day]. Were you shopping to replace plants damaged by the calves? Solved the dry well issue?

  12. Not a care in the world, upside down, fast asleep, in the middle of an open space, no less - there's something to be said for a dog (and his owners) who has never been squelched and can trust the world like this.

  13. Hello Wilf, Angus and The Font, I've been following your story for a few months now and look forward to seeing Wilfie every day, He's such a sweetheart! It took me about a month to follow your story all the way back. Very lovely and interesting lives all of you get to enjoy together, besides the very horrible home invasion. I'm wondering if anyone else notices the glowing image of one of you way back thru the kitchen? It seems like once in a while, one of you blend an image of the other in! Anyway, I love your old farm house and the beautiful land surrounding it.

    1. That's a very heavy bust of the roman poet Seneca that has, against all the odds, been shipped from Scotland to France, from France to Italy, then back to France without too much damage .

    2. Oh! how appropriate! He would have approved of Wilf's simple unhurried life and your recognition of his mortality.
