Under the cherry trees .

Still no rain . We don't have water rationing ; yet . But it can't be long in coming . The downside of day after day of blue skies and gentle breezes . While I roll out the hose pipe to irrigate the lavender beds Wilf opts for half an hours post-breakfast relaxation . He saunters out of the house with a soft toy in his jaws and chooses a shady spot under the cherry trees . True to form he's soon on his back in the cool grass snoring gently . The sounds of France Profonde . The cheerful chirrup of the wrens in the roof eaves , the sun loving croak of the frogs on the pond and a small white , whistling , polar bear in the orchard . The perfect Monday morning .

  2. I wouldn't mind sending you some of our rain. We've had an overload of it, unfortunately.

  3. What a great stuffy! Wilf, you are welcome to some of my rain. We have had so much that the ground is like a sponge! We finally had some sun and blue sky today, but that just made it very humid, which I don't think you would enjoy. More rain tomorrow!

I would love to nap under a cherry tree. I bet you have such sweet dreams!

  5. Do we read it right? Does it say 'Hamish' on that soft toy?

  6. Well said Joanna. I am with you.

We live in Lancashire - nuff said. No sun - lots of rain. Blue skies and gentle breezes sounds like perfection from this side of the channel.

  10. Hey there Angus...
If you can find contentment in sleep, why not? Wilfey looks beautiful as he battles this affliction. You are always in our thoughts. Give that special pup a hug - all the way from South Africa

  11. You have described what I call 'perfect moments.' Where time seems to stand still and everything around you is in perfect harmony. I enjoy those moments as well, and I hope we both have many more with our canine companions.

  15. Morning Wilf: we awoke to thunder, lightening and pouring rain? Shall I send some with the President when he comes to France in a few days? Wait he's stopping in Ireland, I'm sure he can pick some rain up there.
Snooze away...not much else to do.

  19. Sheer perfection!! It is amazing that Wilf still likes toys at his age - I wonder if the tactile feeling in his mouth has some to do with the loss of his sight. I hadn't realized just how much he had changed until yesterday when I looked back to the Italy days and pictures of him and Digby together.

  22. ya, um, we got a message in our mail en francais that said something about not watering the lawns... but you know i really can't read french. i'm american so it doesn't pertain to us who can't read french, right? ;)

seriously, my poor lawn is brown and crisp. so sad because it's not even "ours" since we "louer" the joint... which oddly makes it harder for me to not take care of it and water the darn lawn. i feel kind of bad for not taking care of it.

  23. Ah, sweet Wilfie. We're so glad you're blessed with these halcyon days.

So what happened with the aged mechanical digger across the way? We're expecting a new village pond at the very least.

  25. Do cherry trees have a perfume when they are in bloom? Our wild honeysuckle must love all the rain we have had; it is like a perfumery even going by a window. Sweet morning dreams, Wilf.
