Glop .
Monsieur Risotto and his team of excavators come to move the mechanical digger from the centre of the drive . They then leave . " We'll be back tomorrow with some drainage pipes " their parting comment . Hmmm ....
In the afternoon the arc welder shows up , unexpectedly , to repair the gate leading out onto the lane . His wife , who goes everywhere with him , sits smiling in the passenger seat of their white van . As he welds she gets out and stands in her apron , arms crossed , looking on adoringly . It would have to be said that our welder and his devoted spouse are among the more bizarre characters that inhabit our little patch of paradise .
In the evening it rains . The recently excavated garden turning into a sea of muddy glop . Wilf is delighted . He looks towards the sea of mud as if to say " your present circumstances don't determine where you can go ; they merely determine where you start " .

Wilf, chein profounde...
ReplyDeleterains seems like the next best thing after all the digging.. well.. at least to a fluffy :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be cheaper at this point to have just bought a new house?
ReplyDeleteThen again, we wouldn't get to hear about all the entertaining characters that inhabit your world.
It must take special qualities indeed, to be considered particularly bizarre in your neck of the woods.....
ReplyDeleteThe devoted wife could be extremely jealous--watching his every move!
ReplyDeleteAh mud, glorious mud.
XXXOOO Daisy, kendra & Bella
I keep looking for you at the tour, but I must keep missing you!
ReplyDeleteWilf your paws look very clean in the photos. Are you waiting for the mud to reach exactly the right consistency before having a good roll?
ReplyDeleteMolly, Taffy, Monty and Winnie
Listen I live in an English village, behavior like the welder and his wife sounds very normal to me, we have a lady who stops buses to ask the time!
ReplyDeleteSweet Wilf looks so cuddly this morning, lets hope his mud bath only covers his paws.
I'm wondering if Monsieur Risotto and his team had their wives with them if they would have gotten the job done by now?
ReplyDeleteLovely Wilfie - wise little smiling guy - that's exactly what I think - tonight we are in a special treat - Coco Sumner singing in front of her parents Sting and Trudie - and we are invited - the other night Coc said to the oldest and wisest and smartest gentleman of the whole party: You are the coolest guy of the evening!" The stakes where very high - Gerald Butler and co. - it's the same I feel about Wilfie - he is the coolest guy in Europe!
ReplyDeleteLove from Ischia Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie
Wilf your home is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe two pipe welders we have had both saw themselves as artists rather than tradesmen. They both had the "artistic" personality and a penchant for not returning to the job if the day was particuary fine. Maybe your welders wife comes along to be sure he shows up at the job and stays on task rather than admiring the day, taking lots of breaks and enjoying a "little nap" after a very extended lunch.
ReplyDeleteWhatever makes you happy, dear Wilf.
His lawful welded wife
ReplyDeletebut of course! it had to rain.
ReplyDeletethis would be an excellent morning for rolling down the little incline into the water, on your walk wilfee...
maybe the wife has a thing for sparks flying?
or maybe it's just love.
cheers to the most interesting family in france!

I hope you can have a Glop Party and invite your pals over for a good roll before it dries up! You think?
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Stella
I'd have been tempted to hold that excavator hostage, but that's just me! I wonder if the pipes will arrive by the end of next week. I can't imagine just riding around with my husband to watch him while he works! I love the people of your village. They were made to be a movie, I think!
ReplyDeleteWilf looks so handsome today! Glop must agree with him!
Just imagine the joy Wilf would have plodding around in the "glop" only to have his delightful owners having to clean up the muck. I know too well from spring rains having 3 dogs the JOYS of cleaning up glop. Keep on going Wilf, darling boy!!
ReplyDeleteWith love from your Canadian pals,
Dianna along with Tor, Willow and Tucker
Mud + PON = Bath.
ReplyDeleteBest to remind him of this.
A great title - "glop"! Dogs do love the mud, don't they? I bet that Wilf loves wallowing...
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be so bored - richer, but bored - if you finally get everything fixed in and around the old farm house. It's wonderful that Wilf found, and has the energy to enjoy, a new game: doggie cartwheels down the drainage ditches. Is there a movie? Maybe M. & Mme. Welder are newly weds?
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby
Woof woof woof! Must be awesome to live in a nice place like teh France. :)
ReplyDeleteWheeee Mud!! Have fun Wilf :)
