A typical day

The pool man replaces the new pump . The painter paints . Monsieur Risotto and his team arrive with an enormous machine to ' purge the pipes ' . They discover what appears to be a Minuteman missile silo in the lavender beds . Something , they think , to do with the water from the gutters . It also gets purged . The mysteries of French plumbing . A typical day in the rickety old farmhouse . Mid-chaos ' the font ' phones to ask if I'm keeping busy .

Wilf sleeps through it all completely unaware of the activity around him . There was a time when he'd have been out there barking at the workmen and christening the tyres on their vans . Now he dozes . Age brings an old PON the understanding that " either you run the day or the day runs you " .

  1. I'm glad to hear that all the scheduled work happened today! I could get used to Wilf's current work ethic, too!

  2. I am with Wilf, although I think somewhere along the line I am slipping from one to the other. You have a seriously beautiful house there. The shutters look wonderful. How lovely to wake up an old house and see it have a life again. One day you may have to do an interiors post just to keep us ladies happy.

  6. Why do I think there are a lot of other mysteries yet to be discovered at the rickety farmhouse?

  9. well, i''m in love with the rickety (SOLID stone!!)old french farmhouse. at least the way angus and the font and the wee polar bear are living in it. especially cosy, the lamplight thru the open door. i'm with susan t above... we ladies would adore to have a tour. but maybe that would be too intrusive! the glimpses you give us are wonderful. (and yes... heisTALL!)
still having sausages with the ice cream?
    love to all,

  13. Mon dieu! What an un-French flurry of activity. All it lacked was Mme. Bey bustling around in another fetching outfit, radio music blaring as she swept and scrubbed.

Glad Wilfie had another comfortable day.
