The alligator in the creek .

Monday morning . A busy day ahead of us . The pool man is due any minute to repair the new pump he installed last week . When asked why the pump should malfunction within four days of being fitted he comes up with the less than helpful answer - " teething problems " .

Monsieur Risotto , the excavation guru with his mechanical digger , should be here around lunchtime . Today he's tasked with finding out why chlorinated water from the swimming pool is bubbling up through the lawn . " We may need to dig an exploratory trench " he says by way of warning . Sounds like fun .

It has started to rain . A call from the tall painter saying he can't work in these conditions is expected at any moment . Through it all Wilf can be found at the foot of the stairs sleeping happily and contentedly . His thought for today ? " Don't taunt the alligator until after you've crossed the creek" .

  1. I saw a house in France on a show called House Hunters for under €100000. Are you sure it wouldn't be easier just to move? :)

  2. Perhaps more 'valuable' archaeological remains will be found when a new trench is dug...

  3. Glad Wilfie seems to be feeling ok today. Rainy days are good for napping. Sure hope your pool liner or pipes aren't cracked. Chlorinated water can't be very good for your lawn and plantings, either - not to mention your water bill. Or Wilfie's paws tracking chlorinated water on your floors and carpets. Someday this will all make an amusing story for your grandkids.

  5. That doesn't sound like fun at all! Hope you get all the pump and water issues sorted quickly!

Your pump man sounds a bit like our fish tank man whose comment was also "teething problems" when half our fish died after our tank was supposedly re-done with new pumps, filters etc last week!!

    take care

  7. I really like Wilf's thoughts for the day!! And just remember that 'when you're up to your neck in alligators, it may be hard to remember that the original aim was to drain the swamp'. I wonder what Monsieur Risotto will find when he digs this time?

  9. Living where we do, alligators in the creek are nothing to be sneezed at ...dogs of our size have been known to disappear! So stay clear, M. Wilf

  14. Teething problems? Points for creativity and originality!
    The trench doesn't sound good.
Maybe the digger can re-interest Wilf in christening.
