Two o'clock in the morning . Wilf appears by the side of the bed . Usually he barks when he wants to be let out but this morning he's wandered up in the dark from the front door to find me . He gently nudges me with his nose . An almost apologetic look on his face . '' I didn't want to wake you but I really need to go out ". The first time this has ever happened. Afterwards he can't settle . More changes on the way ?
No, not so bad at all.

Maybe he just wanted some company!

ReplyDeleteThis loving post brought tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteYour devotion and close relationship with Wilf is the very reason he comes to you in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteNothing but love for this sweet boy...

I've noticed that Lilac is having a harder time settling, and I had a talk with the vet to get her some pain meds. I think she's just gotten so bony that she can't lay down comfortably without a little help. Then again, maybe Wilf saw a ghost!
ReplyDeleteI think that Wilf has christened everything imaginable since I started following your blog a couple of years ago. An aloe plant... Ha!
ReplyDeleteOur dogs both silently request to go out if it happens in the middle of the night. They don't even nudge us so they may wait a long time until one of us is awakened by their restlessness. Seems silly, don't you think?
A baguette with honey. Lucky Wilf.
What a sweetheart he is.

Perhaps some more weather coming your way? I know ours do not settle well when the storms are coming. Last night was prime example, our husky Mr. Tor (who is an year round outside dog) woke me up with his woo-ing (he doesn't bark)to let him in. Sure enough, lighning and thunder were making its way towards the city. That being said, let's hope Wilf has a better night tonight!! Keep on going Wilf, lovely boy!!
ReplyDeleteWith love from your Canadian pals,

I'm glad Wilf knows he has a friend, who loves him, that he can go to go to in the wee small hours when he need comfort. I don't know where he normally sleeps at night, but my first dog slept better having his bed in our bedroom in his later years. He had progressed from outside in his kennel, to the family room and then to our room. There was something reassuring for me about hearing his snoring and the sound of his breathing, and for him having his humans nearby if he needed us to take him to the garden for an extra visit. It gave us both some extra time together.
ReplyDeleteThe aloe in France didn't even register with us. We're so used to seeing them.
ReplyDeleteSunflower honey sounds good. We get other varieties from native plants.

I haven't been commenting but I'm still reading!
ReplyDeleteMy little Chico would've peed on that aloe plant too! He think everything needs to be covered in his pee.
That's so sweet how everyone in your village is always giving Wilf treats.
