Woodpeckers and a Michael Jackson look alike.
The workmen have gone . Excess septic tanks filled in with sand , new storm drain laid and broken floor tiles replaced . They even cleared up afterwards. Miracles never cease. Wilf was given a farewell oat biscuit.
Late afternoon. Hot, cloudless and still. The hyperactive woodpecker family have done for another branch on the oak tree . It comes crashing down on top of the barn , scattering roof tiles everywhere. Miraculously, the branch misses the big car by inches leaving it completely untouched bar a thick coat of dust . It all happened twenty minutes after the builders had gone . This morning the first task will be to ask them to come back .
The new clock for the kitchen arrives from Harrods. '' The font '' looks at it and says ' how interesting ' .
For dinner avocat, lotte ; Tourte au poulet et aux salsifis followed by riz au lait onctueux aux pistaches . Wilf is very , very happy . Riz au lait onctueux aux pistaches a new PON favourite .

Well that clock sure is something else! :)
ReplyDeleteWas that really all "the font" said?
ReplyDeleteWill the clock join the lovely pottery dishes down in "storage"?
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment at your house!
That is an interesting clock! I must say, I'm surprised "the font" didn't moonwalk the 'Dog of Pop' right out of the kitchen. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat clock....words fail us.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Who actually purchased it...can't imagine Harrods sending it out as a sample.
" Who actually purchased it ? " . Attentive readers may remember that yours truly was deflected from purchasing a lava lamp with the suggestion that ' we need a kitchen clock '.
ReplyDeleteThis is the end result. I must admit that it looked better on the walls of the Harrods pet shop .
Fabulous clock Angus, but of course, the best pictures are of super-fabulous Wilf x
ReplyDeleteWow ! what an end result Angus !!! I would like to be the smallest mouse in the world to live a day with the Font and you, it would surely be a great moment of fun! I really enjoy you sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a lovely Tuesday, bisous to my sweet Wilfee.
Bonne journée !
The clock made me laugh, because I remembered you mentioned the lava lamp! Having seen them, I would let 'the font' know that you could have purchased the 'Mao Zedong Pug Clock' and not the 'Dog of Pop.'
ReplyDeleteIs Wilf's new favorite, rice pudding with pistachios?
the clock. seriously? bring on the lava lamp!!!
ReplyDeletelaughing with and lovin' you three in the
magical land of angus in the france profonde.
hugs to my wee bear,
tammy j
And to drink? It'd better be strong to cope with that clock
ReplyDeleteBonjour Wilffamily - well you never cease to surprise - the clock... the branch... I am happy Wilf is there to keep this menagerie going and eating - love from Southern Italy Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie
ReplyDeleteYou bought that clock for the kitchen? Ha ha ha ha ha! That will teach 'the Font' to tell you not to buy lava lamps! Any chance you'd come over and become my personal shopper?
ReplyDeleteWilf eats better than anyone I know!
I think that these workers were your most efficient ever...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that the font likes the clock better than a lava lamp?
Your credit card privileges may be revoked following that clock purchase! You're lucky you (and Wilf) got such a delicious dinner after that.
ReplyDeleteGreat postscript Angus!
ReplyDeleteWhile we are all happy to see you have a sense of humor and have never had social insecurities requiring all decorative object to be serious or speak of ones social class, the clock presents unique issues.
ReplyDeleteWe have been unable watch the news without having the lurid, green tinted prosecution photo of Michael Jackson's lifeless, emaciated body (with his endotracheal tube still in place) appear on our screens along with all of the sordid details of his last days and untimely death. So anything pertaining to this sick, sinister and very sad case makes us all eerily uncomfortable. In a different time period, the clock might have been better received. We know you were well meaning. Rix au lait! Simple, heaven. How about some lovely roses from the splendid rose shop in your favourite hotel in Paris for the font who is probably still unsettled by the clock. A good rose will put most anything right.
When is Wilf getting his own image on a clock?
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great clock!
I agree with 'the font', that is an interesting clock! And I concur with Wilf, that sounds like a rather lovely menu! And might I add the handsome beast is looking fabulous as always! Keep on going Wilf!
ReplyDeleteWith love from your Canadian pals,
Dianna along with Tor, Willow and Tucker
Thats one interesting clock!
ReplyDeleteStop of by for a visit!

I wish I could see Madame Bay's reaction to your new clock, and hope that you tell us what she says about it.
ReplyDeleteI like lava lamps..... The clock will make a conversation starter, assuming it avoids "storage"... My garage has a few spare millimeters to hide it, or better still, the barn!
ReplyDeleteI love your house, but glad I am not paying your bills right now :)
