Ohio delicacies ?

By the time we returned from our croissant buying expedition Madame Bay had arrived. She was standing, arms folded , in the courtyard shouting up to the builders, the gutterer, and the plumber who were all on the roof. It seems that the bee man ( remember him ?) managed to cut through the plastic lining membrane that keeps the rain out. A full council of war was underway to see what could be done to repair it. The repeated use of the word 'expensive' caused me to leave them all alone.

Inside the house Wilf and yours truly came face to face with three American ladies hooked up to our WiFi network and working away feverishly on their laptops. It seems these three American college professors are taking a sabbatical and have rented a house in the village for two months. Quite how anyone manages to come from Ohio to rent in a village with a church, a village hall, eight houses and ten street lights is a mystery. The shock of the transition from Cincinnati to a Starbucks free France Profonde is already evident on their faces.

Wilf immediately became the centre of attention. A state of affairs that he considers to be entirely natural. The three lady professors thought he was being charming. Those of us who know him better recognized that hopeful ' and what is it exactly that you eat in Ohio ? Perhaps you could show me ? ' look on his face.

With his dinner kibbles last night our family gourmand had an amuse bouche of seared scallops on a bed of mint peas followed by a taste of sea bass and new potatoes. Why not ? He gets ever lighter by the day.

  1. Love the pictures Wilf!!!

    Hugs & smoochies!!! XOXO

  2. He gets lighter by the day but doesn't feel badly about it. Dogs...

i'm amazed by the food Wilf likes. He is a gourmet indeed.
And I agree, whatever the future brings, keep on blogging, please.

  11. The excitement never stops in Wilf's household! With that kind of activity, the calorie requirement is massive!
Day 18 (?)...another wonderful day of grace!
    Sending lotsaluv for many more..

  12. Ahh...what does one eat in Ohio? Cincinatti makes fine chile....and Buckeye candies are the best anywhere....chocolate and peanut butter....fab...

We agree with Inky...please keep blogging...we are so caught up in this French play that is your lives...

And kisses to dear Wilf...he's working the system...dogs are such opportunists...

Hugs, Mumsie and Lacie who is reading over my shoulder....

  13. Since some of the Starbucks here in the US are going to start serving alcohol, perhaps you should introduce the Professors to the beer and absinthe crowd at the cafe! :-)

  14. Once again Angus your words make me smile. An 'amuse bouche' - such a delightful term. Common vernacular for France perhaps, but it tickles this Yankee Girl as she imagines the lovely bites for Wilf. His photos show him handsome as always. Days of grace indeed.

  15. We love when you laugh, precious Wilf. What a wonderful boy you are. Still helping people to be happy.
There are not enough calories in the day for the body after cancer has stolen it's unfair share. So feast, lovely boy, feast. And enjoy!

  16. And how those Americans immediately found you is probably an amusing story in itself!

Wilf must have the most diverse pallet of any dog I've ever known! Sometimes I wish I was your dog!

  17. As long as he has the desire to eat, keep filling him up. Have a great weekend.

  18. Now my dogs want an "amuse-bouche" before dinner!

I adore Wilf's eyes and crazy head fur. What a character! I hope that he received some tasty treats from the Ohio professors - or that they plan to return today with appropriate offerings.

  19. Seems to have made his fur stand on end

  20. Sorry to be in late sweet boy ! Happy to read good news from you. Cuddles to you beloved Wilf.

  21. I love to see that pink tongued smile.
    Give him anything he wants.

  22. We are so intrigued -- and salivating -- ar the daily gourmet menus. We picture a blackboard with the menu written in chalk for the delight of human and dog.

We were taken aback for a moment when we read that the American ladies were sitting at your WIFI .. at first we thought they were indeed at the local internet cafe (except there is no such cafe). So yes, we too are curious as to how they found Chez Wilf!!

Loving hugs to your dear boy!!

    xxx Joan

  23. Wilf is living the good life. of course, he should. he is adorable

  24. It is 08:30 in the morning here in Portland and my stomach is rumbling. I never used to eat before 11:00 but you Angus and dear Wilf have brought changes in my life. Instead of grabbing a coffee to go on my way to the office I now sit and have a hearty breakfast with Mema. You have also made me realise how precious and sometimes short the lives around us are.

  25. Long may the good life continue!

  26. Is Wilf's Ohio (oh-high-oh) high fur style especially for or as a result of his American visitors?

Keep enjoying having special food with your kibble Wilf.

    Wishing you a good weekend.

  27. Wilf's tousled hair look is superb. He definitely looks like someone who is making the most of the amuse bouche of life.

  28. Wilfie: Ask the Ohio ladies about Cinn style chili--5 ways !!! And and 'small' ice cream parlor named Graeters.
Love the hair-do. kind of reminds me of moms early in the morning, or late in the afternoon !!!

  29. I bet he gets that "you remind me of someone... i just don't know who... hmmm... E=MC squared comes to mind..." a lot. huh? I mean seriously, Wilf is like his twin!

  30. Our prayers for him continue daily. My daily visit to your blog so bittersweet. But I wouldn't miss it for the world. Love to you all, from across the globe.

  31. Mom Beaglebratz here - we at Team Beaglebratz became a follower shortly after we first read the news of Wilfs diagnosis. I love it when the vet is wrong - maybe not the diagnosis but certainly the prognosis/the length of time. Wilf is looking as dapper as ever in those pics. And I like your outlook when you first saw the lump on the bak of his head which had increased in size - basically, don't go looking for trouble. It is quite evident that Wilf is not - he is just enjoying life as always.

  32. not to sound like a broken record, but i can not get enough of wilf's crazy hair days. i absolutely love it! :)
how did the american ladies wind up in your house??

the booker man and asa's mama

  33. Wilf almost looks like he has a mohawk in those top three pictures! He has the best hair of any dog I know.

I wondered how the American's wound up in your house too?!

Hope you get everything fixed soon.

And yes, I have to second everyone else's sentiments. I truly hope you'll continue to blog even after Wilf departs.
