A rough night with Wilf. For some reason his ' diabetic foot ' became inflamed and swollen to near double its usual size. The first time either of us have ever heard him cry .Off to the surgery in the early hours for a couple of shots and an antiseptic footbath . Thank heavens for caring vets who'll start work at day break . The family fellow beamed as the senior partner tickled him under the chin and said ' tu es sage ' . He's now much better and the swelling noticeably reduced although he'll be on a course of antibiotics and pain killers for the next couple of weeks . Wilfs attitude to this mornings adventures ? " Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless " .
Thanks to Suka for sorting out the 404 Error problem and suggesting switching to Firefox .
Poor Wilf. All my best wishes to him.
ReplyDeleteWilf, I have long known that you are wise - I wish you healing vibes.
ReplyDeletePoor Wilf. We will hold him extra close in our hearts today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Love,
Janelle and Maggie Mae
Poor Wilf! Hope your foot heals quick!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Brave boy.... so glad you were able to get help so early!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the sore paw Wilf. Glad to hear kt is improving. Demand extra treats from Angus and The Font...!
ReplyDeletePoor baby!!! When humans are diagnosed with diabetes -- 1 or 2 -- their paws are constantly being checked. So Wilf's hurting paw is consistent with the disease. But somehow it's worse when it's a dear family fellow who can't speak and has to rely on the physical evidence.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are with you!

Sweet Wilf, hope that his poorly paw gets better very soon, and that he is pain free. Extra ice cream for invalids prescribed.
ReplyDeletePoor Wilf - but such a gallant fellow - taking the good and bad that life doles out but then always coming back for more. And you guys are wonderful - so many people would have given up on Wilf a long time ago - so glad that you are not those people.
ReplyDeleteHugs and prayers for all of you.
Mom Kim
Thinking of Wilf.....glad to hear he's much better after his visit to the vets. We check in every day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stoic, dear boy. You and Wilf give me the courage to at least pretend I'm perfectly okay with the knowledge that our dear girl - already lost one eye at age 3 to glaucoma - will be just fine, NO MATTER WHAT.
ReplyDelete(And I will be too.)

Perhaps a now and then addition of someone who loves Wilf holding an ice pack to that foot might help even more.
ReplyDeleteGentle hugs and tummy rubs to you Wilf!
Kisses,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
Poor chap, I hope he feels better soon.
ReplyDeletex (for Wilf!)
Mon pauvre chien! C'est vrai. Tu es sage. C'est dommage que il n'ya pas plus comme toi!
ReplyDeletehugs and kisses to Wilf.
Hope Wilf soon improves now that he has seen the vet. I am sad I have only just found you and will now have to go back and read all the previous stories. Diane
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave boy you are Wilf! Enjoy a day of the sounds and smells of summer and please get better soon!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Poor soul, that has to be painful. No doubt the antibiotics, sleep and love will soon set him to rights. Extra scratches from us!!
ReplyDeletefirst a note to diane, above... do go thru all the archives and even the italy ones... it is so worth getting to know this remarkable family. you will fall in love with digby (wilf's little brother) too!
ReplyDeletewhen you said he cried, i wanted to cry. he has endured so much and stayed so calm. but it sounds like they know exactly what they're doing. (no mean vet tho! i simply don't trust her)
love and hugs to all three today and special tummy rub for wilf,
tammy j
Poor Wilf. And poor you. Lulu had a similar problem in her leg and it was heartbreaking to hear her cry and be powerless to help until we managed to get her to the vet. I so glad he's on the mend.
ReplyDeletePoor dear Wilf. Having once myself had to stay for two weeks on a hospital ward where many humans with 'diabetic feet' were being treated, I am all too familiar with the problem. You will, I think, have to be very very careful with his paws.
ReplyDeleteGail.
Aww, poor Wilf! I'm glad you have such kind people at your vet practice.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a fan of Google Chrome if IE is giving you trouble!
Hello Wilf....Sorry to hear you had a rough night, but glad your vet has helped. (our lurcher William - also a new Follower of yours) sends his best wishes......regards, ann.
ReplyDeleteSweet Wilfieeee! Get better soon - no more crying I hope - we love you! Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie wishing you well!!!
ReplyDeleteWe hope your foot heals quickly for you, Wilf. We don't want you to hurt!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots

I had an error message as well. I emptied my "cache" and deleted my "cookies". I use safari. Anyway it's fixed. If only Wilf's paw could be repaired so easily!
ReplyDeleteFurry hugs for Wilf.
ReplyDeletefrom, Mandu
Hugs to all of you...and continued healing for Wilfy's paw...poor baby.
ReplyDeletexo J~
Angus, I think we both know that kind and compassionate care for our companions makes us feel better too! I'm glad to read that Wilf is already on the mend! We also send those same healing thoughts from our corner of Virginia!
ReplyDeleteOwwwch!...poor Wilf. Thank goodness for the kind vet who helps you all.
ReplyDeleteAm on firefox here, but occasionally have come across blogger glitches, too. Can be very frustrating when that happens...hope you all fixed now.
Sending doggie kisses to Wilf.. from North Carolina to you...
Perhaps Wilf beamed because he thought you might hear the vet prescribed “sau-sage”. The “sages” are close enough that a dog as wise as Wilf would recognise the opportunity to have his favourite food as his daily medicine!
ReplyDeleteSweet boy, i really hope your paw will go better the most rapidly as possible.
ReplyDeleteWe, all around the world, are with you.
Bisous my sweet.
Courage Angus, we all, support you and the Font.
Poor Wilf. We're glad his foot is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Poor Wilfie. I wish you a speedy recovery! So much sadness and strife in this world of ours. I always come here for my daily smile and chuckle. And of course to see Wilf's hairdo for the day. Hugs and kisses!!!
ReplyDeleteOh...I hate to hear that Wilf was in pain. So glad you have him on the way to fixing his paw. Dear sweet Wilf.
ReplyDeletePoor Wilf... it is sad to hear them cry. I sure hope he is healing and feeling much better today. Paws and fingers crossed for Mister Fluffy.
ReplyDeletehey Wilf,
ReplyDeleteI am so sad to read about your foot and sorry you went through that awful experience. Please know my paws are crossed for you and both my human, K, and I are sending you lots of love, prayers, and thoughts for healing. Sounds like you have some wonderful Vets looking out for you, and an amazing family that loves you. :->
Suka and K
p.s. Glad I was able to help with your "Error" problem! :->
Hey Wilf,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your birthday wishes. Man, sorry to hear about your foot/paw. Are you feeling better now? Has the swelling subside?
