Black Sabbath meets Dire Straits .

Early evening . A man comes to the gate to sell tickets for a concert in the Village Hall. '' It's a Franco-Dutch rock band. Half Black Sabbath , half Dire Straits " he says by way of explanation . He adds , perhaps a little too enthusiastically , " It'll be great fun " . Angus buys two tickets but with the caveat that he can't be absolutely sure we're free the night of the 19th.

Over dinner 'the font ' suddenly looks up and asks " Weren't Dire Straits glam rock ? "

Aude arrives early to replaster the upstairs bedrooms . Madame Bay turns up in her voiturette shortly afterwards. It's a Cat Stevens morning on Radio Nostalgie . Madame Bay doesn't speak English but this doesn't prevent her from singing along , lustily , with each track . In search of peace and quiet Wilf and Angus head off into town .

Wilf gets a small corner of croissant from the lady at the bakers . The family fellow receives it gratefully . Old dogs know that " the winds of grace are always blowing , all you have to do is raise the sail " .

  1. Lovely - days of grace and winds of grace - just think your writing is so nice - wishing you a gourmet lunch and a good day - love Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie

  2. And I wondered if the title was referring to a new playlist for Madame Bay's favourite radio station.
Or possibly describing a bad day with the local workmen and women.

  5. I've been having so much trouble leaving comments -- but for this one the problem seems to have gone away, perhaps floating in the air like Mme. Bay's who cares if the words aren't right song interpretations.

  6. I'm waiting for the concert post now! Something tells me this will be something to see, and hear about!

Ah, Wilf, is there anyone anywhere who wouldn't succumb to your charms? I'd give him a whole croissant if he just smiled at me!

  8. Now that's an ODD combination - Black Sabbath and Dire Straits. Can't wait to hear about it!

It seems that Wilf has mastered the art of getting treats from everyone on earth! Good job Wilf! Keep smiling.

  10. I really like Cat Stevens, though perhaps not Madame Bay's interpretations. I agree 1) you must attend the concert if only to give us a report (do you have ear plugs?) and 2) Wilf looks pretty chipper in these photos :).

  14. Not sure if Mark Knopfler would consider himself part of the glam rock crowd. His latest with Emmylou Harris is really good, by the way.

Also, a fun fact. My hairdresser is Cat Steven's cousin. Life if consistently funny, don't you think?

    Love to the boy!

Hopefully more croissants shall fall from the sky and right into Wilf's mouth!

  18. hey Wilf,

The last photo of you is a beauty! Your smile shines all the way into our hearts! I love to howl, especially at night. Perhaps you can howl along to Madame Bay's singing? :->

  19. We suspect you'll be able to hear the concert, whether you attend or not. Of course, it might be worth dropping in [can you stand at the back?] just for the visuals. Or you could give the tickets to Mme. Bey and let her regale you with her recreation of the event.

Glad to read Wilf is still enjoying his days and his companionship with Mongoose, the font and the entire village that has taken him to their hearts.
