The Ghost and Mrs.Muir

A good day. A really good day. Wilf had a full, uninterrupted, nights sleep. The insulin already having the desired effect. He woke refreshed and in a party mood. That old sheepdog philosophy " When your ship comes in makes sure you are willing to unload it " evident in his playful mood. We stop the car and watch as a herd of deer stream across the road in front of us. Twenty of them silhouetted against the morning skyline.

Our arrival at the cafe under the arcades met by a more than usually robust 'Bonjour Vilfee' from the early morning revellers. The friendly waitress in the flashing 'Bon Noel' apron being rewarded with Wilfs best ' I love you. I really do ' look in return for the end piece from a croissant.

Home from the bakers for the breakfast feeding frenzy. Madame Bay was bustling around laughing uproariously. Me thinks she rather enjoys youthful company. Our saintly cleaning lady has returned sporting a new hair do. Thankfully, more conservative than last years red Sinead O'Conor buzz cut. Does anyone remember the old television series ' The Ghost and Mrs. Muir ?' Something implausible to do with a widow and the spirit of an old lighthouse keeper. Imagine the leading lady with the palest of pale blue rinses - then think of Madame Bay. 'The font' thinks that either the 50's look is back in fashion or it must have been an Upper East Side salon.

  11. I really like the first picture. I thought you'd gotten rid of all those bees! ;-)

I have to admit that I worried that Wilf's medication might not be effective--I'm so very thankful that this has not happened and the enjoyable days have returned--And Madame Bay too. I think 50's anything is starting to come back into vogue.

  12. I'm so happy to hear that Wilf is feeling better! He does know how to seize a chance to have fun - we can all learn from him!

Love the Madame Bay hairdo description! If we have an artist in our midst, it would be very funny for them to try to draw Madame Bay based on your many caricatures and then compare it to reality!

  13. Hurray that Wilf is feeling better! So thankful for that this morning. Oh, and the ghost was not a lighthouse keeper - he was a salty old sea captain. Sheesh, the junk I carry around in my head...

  16. Always happy to start my day with good news from France profonde! Love that first photo--looks like Wilf got an over-large set of dentures! And a pale blue rinse, huh? I'm thinking that sounds like the East Village or lower East Side! Could you please ask Mme Bay's permission for a photo for her eager and adoring public?

A most Happy New Year to you all!

  17. More good news for Wilf, we are happy he is still pain-free and peeing less. It is important for everyone to get their sleep as you have many adventures to pursue! Happy New Year for Iowa USA and many hugs and kisses to the darling Wilf. It is silly to say I love him, but there is something about your beautiful words that do make me love the sweet, brave little fellow.

  20. The only Mrs. Muir I seem to remember is Gene Tierney, she of the fetching green eyes and slight overbite. I do know there was a television show in the 60's with another Mrs. Muir and I rather assume you are comparing Mme. Bay to that one. Either way, a remarkable sight over breakfast, I'm sure.

So, so happy Wilf is feeling himself again! Edward and I are off for another day of gift delivery. He adores being included in this activity.

  21. I'm so happy to hear that Wilf had such a good day and the insulin helped so quickly.

I had to Google the show, because while I've heard the title, it actually aired before I was born. *grin* I am voting for the Upper East Side Salon theory!

  22. Whew, Madame Bay must be rather a looker. Mrs. Muir on television was played by Hope Lange, who was beautiful. Cute series ~ nice young widow and the ghost of a 19th century sea captain. The blue hair is a bit daunting, LOL! Of course your Madame Bay would put her own twist on it ;-)).

So glad Wilf is doing better.

  26. Wonderful news for our friend, Wilf!

At least the flamboyant blue-haired octogenarian doesn't resemble Marge Simpson. Now that would be a sight!
