A vertical dog blanket.

Wilf and yours truly finally settled down to watch what remained of the rugby. Downstairs 'the font' and the manic curtain woman dealt with the new drapes in the hallway. How it could take two hours to hang two lengths of cloth is one of lifes imponderables. Even more amazing is how a non-stop conversation could be carried on throughout the entire process. Is there any subject under the sun duller than ' triple lining ?' Hopefully, the extra long and incredibly heavy curtains will help keep out some of the chill Pyrennean winds that whistle through the gaps in the doors.

To begin with Wilf was somewhat suspicious of this stripey new addition to his hallway. However, he soon found that they are great to nestle into. 'Whoooa - a vertical dog blanket' . Any attempts to shoo him away from his favoured spot by the door, on the new curtains, are doomed to certain and complete failure. Curtains come and curtains go but a boyz favourite lounging spot is inviolable.

Wilf has had a really good week. Full of life and vigour. His recent lethargy and aches pushed aside. Fresh salmon fishcakes now firmly at the top of his list of favoured foods along with coconut icecream. The coming week is set to get even better. Turkey, gravy and a reunited flock.

  1. Wonderful to hear Wilf is having so many good days, and that he has a new soft spot to lie by the door. Sorry to learn the nature of the farming is changing so drastically; hope you don't get a pig farm upwind of you.

We're away for a while, so we wanted to wish Wilf [and Angus & the font] a very Merry Christmas with the reassembled family. Hope the weather is decent and everyone can get where they're going [and back again].

  2. That is quite a door you have there and the drapes should do the trick. Good going Wilf.

  6. You shouldn't be so hard on the curtain lady - she clearly knows what she's doing! (OR...'the font' probably knows exactly what she wants - those curtains are superb!)

We wish you loads of happiness this festive week - may the re-uniting of the flock fill your home with laughter! Wilf is sure to pick up on the festive mood and that, together with his daily meds and buckets of love he receives from his family, is bound to make him forget about all his aches and pains. A merry Christmas to you!

  10. Wow - Looks like there could be a moat on the other side of that door! Beautiful. Buzzy McDuff sezs curtains that long and thick and warm are just begging to be lounged upon. Tell the Font they're lovely and worth every dime spent.

  11. It's amazing how a dog sees something completely different than we do. We see vertical curtains to keep out the drafts. Wilf sees a den!

I'm glad that Wilf has had such a great week and that the flock will be reunited soon. Wilf will love it.

  14. Obviously, the curtain lady has never had pets. A lesson on draperies of a generous length was taught here by an aging, and incontinent, kitty.
Wilf's good week adds greatly to the joy of the season. We hope all of the visitors entertain but don't tire him. Is he looking especially adorable? We think so. Love to all.

  16. I very seldom leave a comment but I do read your post everyday. I really enjoy reading about your life there and of course, Wilf. Please let Madame Bay know she has been missed.

  17. I'm not sure I could bear to hide that door behind curtains, but then again, I'm not feeling the draft! I just hope none of our dogs take on Wilf's new habit.

I wonder what the canine equivalent is to having to undo one's pants button after a big meal. I have a feeling that Wilf is going to let us know soon!
