Waste not ...

The wells have run dry again . On yesterdays walk I see that the old farmer has rigged up an ancient tractor and pump to bring the water to the surface from the aquifer deep below . Unsightly but effective . Waste not want not the local farmers creed . Wilf is far too busy rooting out unmentionable things in the long grass to bother about the tractor . He finds, and happily displays, an old bone . As he knows " one cannot refuse to eat just because there is a chance of being choked ".

  2. An old bone ? May be one from the ancient Rome period... Wilfee is a new type of archeologist.
Angus seems to be away for the moment, no ?
Amitiés to you, and lots and lots of bisous to my beloved Wilfee. Hope his nights are better.

  4. Wilf, I never knew archaeology was a forte of yours! I know there would be great celebration here if such a find were discovered!

  6. Wilf looks like a dog on a mission in your photos. I'm sorry to hear about the wells. You must be having quite a drought. Wells have run dry only once in my memory of living in our mountains, and it was a very stressful time.

I'm so happy to find that Wilf is happy and looking dapper after my long absence.

  7. That tractor reminds me of the one my grandfather had on our family farm in Iowa. Fond memories of seeing him on it. :) Hugs for Wilf.

  8. Seeing Wilf confidently stride out reminds me of watching my neighbor's blind dog, Lady. Lady has diabetes, too and went blind; at first, they kept her in the house as she was quite discombobulated with the change; now, I see her in the yard, crossing the road (with supervision) to bark again at the pack here. Trot on, Wilf! Perhaps you are dowsing for water?

  10. Oh, I don't know, Angus. I think the aging little tractor has its own beauty and integrity about it and seems to have a certain charm siitting in the field. Much better than a rusting Citroën DS Wagon isn't it?
Did Wilf get a chance to christen the tyre?
