Lip smackingly satisfying .

I'm under the shower half listening to the Radio France early morning phone in . A lady calls. She says ' Bonjour ' then starts to sob. After what must have been thirty seconds she pulls herself together and says 'au revoir '. The presenter also says ' au revoir '. Nothing more is said . I wonder what that was all about ?

In London a concours of vintage vehicles . The amusing sight of a 1906 De Dion being worked on nonchalantly by the recovery service . The car and its owners treated as if this is just another everyday breakdown. A small , supportive , crowd gathers to watch .

Over breakfast Angus suggests to ' the font ' that we might want to buy a drophead E-type Jaguar. This proposal is listened to in silence before being met with the response " have you seen the weather ? " . True enough last weeks eastern seaboard storms have now made their way across the Atlantic to our little patch of paradise. Grey skies and rain .

Wilf remains in fine form. He's even starting to put weight back on . Ahead a week with no workmen in the house. Aude, the decaratrice , is taking time off to try her new hand loom . It's too wet for the gardeners to show up and the builders seem to have decamped again to the sunny Maldives . Last nights dinner Spaghettini au Homard . From the loud lip smacking it can be assumed that Wilf found the Spaghettini to be highly satisfying .

  2. Surely the only question is, could Wilf travel in comfort in an E-type? (A topical issue, having been driven from Kenwood to Hyde Park, crushed into the rear 'seat' of some sort of a sporty modern Jaguar last weekend!)
Good to hear about Wilf's weight gain and overall fine form.
    Cheers, Gail.

  7. Bless you, Font! Keeping the balance needed for stable blood sugar but promotion of weight gain is quite a difficult task. Far too complicated for us mere mortals. We stand in awe.
In these grim days of ours, we find encouragement in Wilf's continuing health and obvious happiness! Love you so, Wilf!

  9. I'd have joined Wilf in that opinion on the spaghetti!

'The Font' always seems to be the voice of reason, eh? I don't suppose you suggested moving to get the car you wanted? I suspect that would happen here...

ps... my dearest late husband was a car lover.
he bought a jaguar once.. all i remember were
black leather seats, two gasoline tanks, a burled walnut dashboard... and the fact that my
windscreen wiper immediately stopped working soon after he got the car. it was an especially rainy spring. weeks and weeks went by... i could see nothing from my side.
i sweetly asked if the part was coming by the queen mary or by row boat, or.... well...
you get the picture. it was a neat car though.

  13. That is the best news I have heard in a long while! Keep putting on the weight Wilf! Do you think perhaps a bit more spaghettini could be found towards Wilf's dish? Keep on going Wilf, handsome boy!!!

  18. Wahoo! A good spell. May it last and last.

Sounds like Mongoose is having a mid-life crisis and the font isn't. You could buy some lovely art work that would actually appreciate in value for the cost of a Jag. Or some gold bullion.
