A typical Tuesday .

08.00 : The gardeners arrive .
09.27 : They start using the mechanical excavator .
11.05 : They sever the water main . A lake quickly forms in the garden .
11.16 : We find the stopcock . The lake stops growing .
Noon : The gardeners leave for lunch .
13.39 : They return .
14.42 : They sever the main electrical cable .
14.43 : 'The font ' comes into the garden to tell me the power is off.
14.44 : Aude the decaratrice does the same.
14.45 : Angus thanks everyone for informing him of the obvious .
14.47 : The gendarmes arrive to find out why the security alarm is ringing.
14.49 : One of the DHL parcels arrives .
14.56 : Satisfied I'm not a burglar the gendarmes depart .
15.51 : Electricity is restored to the house .
16.28 : The gardeners snag the wire leading to the barn . The fuses trip .
16.36 : Power once again restored
17.12 : A second DHL parcel arrives
18.00 : The gardeners go .
18.01 : Angus opens a bottle of wine .

Through it all Wilf sits outside the front door dozing . That old PON ethos of only worrying about the things he can change and not bothering about the rest . This is not an ethos ' the font ' seems to share .

21:00 the power goes off again
22:30 time for a wee dram (by candlelight)

Poor Angus ! Hopefully, your ethos is to stand back all that mess ! Scot's ethos.
I wish you a more peaceful Wednesday.
    Bisous to my sweet Wilfee.

  6. But did the gardeners complete their task, or was their task to disrupt! Good luck with that one.

  10. It sure was busy at your house yesterday. Were they forming an orderly queue up your driveway?

Hope today is a better day.

    Is the lake still there?

  11. It was definitely "one of those days"!!
In principle I agree with Wilf, life is full of two kinds of things, those you can change and those you can't. But I'm with the font this time. I hope your wine cellar can stand the strain !!

  13. Oh my! You sure had a Monday for the books! I think you'd better crack out another bottle of wine for 'the font' and have a third handy in case you decide to share another.

  14. I think I would have opened that bottle of wine about noon - it would have added some levity to the afternoon!!

  15. LOL - I thought I was the only one who had days like that!

  16. Sitting here stunned...you and the Font appear to reside within a "Bermuda Triangle" of contractor idiocy. Not only would I have cracked open several bottles of wine by now - but there would also have been a great deal of crying and a whole lot of finger pointing. Thank goodness for a wise and calming pon.

  17. hmm..so no contractor called the utilities to map out the lines...and only one bottle of wine - well, at 1801! Wise old Wilf :). I do hope the needed work was done and today is much better!

  20. Those workers there ?? What can I say!!

  21. I don't drink and I think I'd open a bottle of wine after that day! Perhaps a rubby ducky could be purchased to float in the newly formed lake? Just a thought....

Wilf as always, very wise! Keep on going Wilf!

  22. Oh my, what a day - the gardeners sound like a walking disaster. If we could all be as calm and unperturbed as Wilf, life would be great!

  23. I'd have opened the wine at 11.06..lol xx

  24. Aghhh! Guess we know why sang froid is a French term with no good English equivalent. Maybe Angus imbibes it with the water - when it's working. You mentioned the electricity being restored at least twice. What about the water?

Glad to hear Wilf was not disturbed by all the farcical occurrences.

  25. Proof positive that life is stranger than fiction. Much stranger! At least you might find comfort in the fact that the gendarmes answered your security alarm in a timely fashion. Love to all.
