Froth and bubble.

Torrential rain. Wilf looked out of the front door, looked at me, then looked at his cosy bed. Decision made. As he settled down he let out a satisfied sigh that said ' wake me when you've got the croissants'. Sensible boy.

The elusive electrician was in the bar talking to the equally elusive joiner. Both of them looked up as I came in. " Bonjour M'Ongoose, Bonjour. Happy New Year ". With that I was wrapped in a hearty bear hug and kissed on both cheeks , first by the electrician, then by his colleague. Guess that's one way of dealing with difficult customers. A parting " we'll see you soon ".

Over dinner on Friday a Russian diplomat, who use to be based at their embassy in London, recites a little poem that he said was Princess Dianas favourite. 'Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand in stone ; Friendship in anothers trouble. Courage in your own '. Just a ditty but somehow poignant.

To the vets this morning. Time for more tests to see how the insulin is working. Three pit stops last night. Something is not right.

  2. We offer 'friendship in another's trouble" knowing you have "courage in your own."

You offer Wilf courage in his trouble, knowing he has courage in his own.

    Nice thought.

Never much of a Princess Di fan.

Big fan of Wilf's , though.

  4. Dear Wilfy, we do hope the vet can help.

Clearly, the Russians do a thorough job in educating their diplomats about the Royal Family here!

    Cheers,
    Gail and Bertie.

  7. Wise Wilf stays out of the rain avoiding a "bad hair" day. Good for you little one, why venture out into the unknown when the known is so comfortable.

  8. Hoping the snippy Parisienne vet has the day off. We had unusually cold and icy rain yesterday and Petey would only venture as far as the drive, do his business and quickly turn tail back into the house. Of course, he had to bring a ball with him each time! Is Wilf on predisone? That made our fox terrier pee much more frequently. Fingers crossed for a solution.

  10. We're hoping you get the understanding vet -- and a solution to the multiple night-time pit stops.

Just curious how the Russian diplomet knew what Princess Di's favorite poem was...

  11. I agree, most sensible! No wonder it looks like the Tree of Knowledge is growing out his head in that second picture.

Funny that you'd see both the workmen at the bar in the morning!

We will pray for a good solution today at the vet's office!

  12. I do love the errant electrician's and joiner's approach to making it impossible for you to act mad at them!

Wilf's and your courage astounds me. I hope that the vet can sort things out to prevent the many pit stops and keep Wilf a happy family fellow. Thinking of you.

  14. ...friendship in another's trouble... we are here. Hope Wilf can get sorted out.

The electrician on this side of the pond came by yesterday to discuss deck lighting (and see my new dishtowels of course) ....and the builders are in the home stretch. Perhaps they could come to your corner and help you along!

  15. Hope that all goes well this morning and that one of the kind vets is on duty to help Wilf. We check in every day to see how he's doing. What a courageous lad he is (and you too).

  17. Rainy days are just made for sleeping in and having breakfast in the warmth of ones home. A good choice, Wilf, made possible by a loving father.
You will get the insulin dosage fine tuned and all will be well again. It is just not as easy as we'd like in the beginning. Hope the vet you are fond of sees you today. ( We cannot imagine how even the most chill of hearts can not melt under your soft, gentle gaze. And having the most adorable nose we've ever seen on any dog doesn't hurt either.)

  19. What I wouldn't give for some of that rain! I will gladly trade you for some cold and snow. Keeping fingers crossed for the vet's visit. Perhaps just a tweaking of the insulin is needed...

Keep going Wilf, you are perfect!!

  22. Hope all goes well at the vet's today. I do worry about Wilf so. To look at your pictures, one would never guess he was sick. But we all know better.
