Every morning at seven thirty Wilf visits the old widows house in the hope of seeing Kelly. A new but firmly fixed routine. Sharp left out of the gate for a quick christening of the fire hydrant. Then across the green, past the well, the war memorial and the church before ambling down the lane . There we stop. The old trooper settling down in the middle of the road. Staring with unseeing eyes at Kellys gate. A shaggy Romeo waiting in wistful expectation. Sadly, Kelly and her mistress are not early risers and the shutters remain firmly closed. Wilfs attitude to this unrequited love - " If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain ". There's always tomorrow.
If you'll give me her phone number, I'll call her every morning so she'll start getting up earlier! :)
ReplyDeletePerseverance dear Wilfee :)
ReplyDeletePerhaps, Wilf could hold up a little boombox like John Cusack did in the movie "Say Anything". ;o)
ReplyDeleteThere is always tomorrow. Maybe you'd better go for a walk later in the morning, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours in the photos today.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Oh how could Kelly not realise that this is one dog worth getting out of bed early for?
ReplyDeleteWe're with Scotsmad. Adapt to the lady's preferences and make your pilgrimage later in the day. Or make a second pilgrimage - later in the day. Good luck, Wilf!
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby
Poor Wilfie!! But he does have a smile on his face :-)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Wilf--Kelly, faith and hope are the substance of things unseen!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the anticipation is as sweet as the actuality. Or maybe it's the sheer scent of Kelly that brings him such enjoyment. (A few days back, a knowledgeable visitor stated that a dog is all nose.). It's heartwarming to see that age and infirmity do not stand in the way of attraction. His young man's heart beats strong.
ReplyDeleteRomeo, oh Romeo!!!!! Maybe in the afternoon his beloved Kelly will show up???
ReplyDeleteWilf, you are a beautiful white knight in shining white fur!!! If I were a little lady dog I would fall for you! Love from Southern Italy Susanne, Daisy and Foxiie
But thanks to pee-mail, she knows he has been there.
ReplyDeleteYour old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
ReplyDeleteoh Wilf....you might have to change your schedule to see your juliet...
ReplyDeletethere is nothing more handsome than a shaggy romeo!
xoxo
Beautiful photos of Wilf on the green grass by the church.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Wilf needs to take an extra nap before going to see his beau?
All those dreams of what might be must be just as exciting as the actual meeting! I hope he figures out a schedule that involves Kelly actually being out and about when he stops by. It always amazes me how distinctly dogs can come up with a plan and how they can keep it on a time schedule, too!
ReplyDelete"Your old dogs shall dream dreams, your young dogs shall smell scents." (slight paraphrase :)
ReplyDeleteAnd who is to say that Kelly is not eagerly awake and pleading with her human for a shutter or two to be cast open, so that she may then sight her beau whom she smells upon the fresh morning air wafting into her abode?
An early morning phone call to the homeowner would work best for Angus. I doubt he wants to leave a pee-mail himself -- that is best left to Wilf!
hey Wilf,
ReplyDeleteYou are such a sweet pup! I am sure Kelly knew you were patiently waiting for her! Love the photos of you by the Church. And great "Rainbow" quote. Good luck tomorrow! Paws crossed you get a glimpse of your beloved!
Suka
Kelllleeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWilf, perhaps a firm but gentle woff ;o)
ReplyDeleteYes there is always hope something will wake her early.
ReplyDeletePatience, darling boy, always pays off. You are right, tomorrow is another day. Perhaps with luck, Kelly will be up and out early enough for a sunrise tryst! That would bring cheer to your PON heart, to be sure. Keep going Wilf!
ReplyDeleteLove your pals from the somewhat thawing Canadian prairies,
Dianna along with Tor, Willow and Tucker
The Thundering Herd said, "But thanks to pee-mail, she knows he has been there."
ReplyDeleteAre you referring to the old widow and M'Ongoose, or Kelly and Wilf?
Kelly better stop playing hard to get! ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Love,
Janelle and Maggie Mae
"All comes to those who wait"
ReplyDeletePerhaps Wilf just needs to wait a wee bit longer for his sweet Kelly to appear.
Wilf
