Baby vampires.

Another hot day . The sort of morning when you set off into town with all the car windows down . Wilf settles in the shade of the cafe table and noisily slurps the water from his bowl. He's adjusting to the loss of vision well and seems quite happy and unstressed as long as he's in his harness and within reach of us.

While Wilf dozes, large black nose sticking out from under the table cloth, I read the morning papers. It took time but Charlie Sheens convoluted antics have finally made it into the French press. They don't even bother trying to translate " I'm not bi-polar , I'm bi-winning " preferring to leave it, for all to enjoy, in its native English . There's also a story from The Boston Globe about Kathy Spencer , a woman who is the ' Oprah of couponing '. Apparently she works coupons and store credits to get $60,000 of products for free each year. This seems like a good idea until I read her quote : " When a newbie couponer is birthed they are very much like baby vampires ". Hmmm.

We seem to have got Wilfs diabetes under control. Five nights in a row of uninterrupted sleep. Sweet peace all the way through until six in the morning. He has the sort of uncomplaining temperament that knows that the ' three grand essentials to happiness are something to do, something to love and something to hope for '.

  2. The baby vampires would probably enjoy some of Charlie Sheen's tiger blood. "Winning!"

  3. I would be normally be envious reading about the car windows down weather, but it's been nice here too this last week.
What a blessing to have an uncomplaining temperament.
    Cheers, Gail.
PS Thanks for the tip about the bonded warehouse! I had no idea and I used to work in Victoria Tower, overlooking that bit of the harbour.

  5. We're glad to hear that Wilf is adjusting well and coping with his diabetes. Those are certainly the 'three grand essentials to happiness'. We couldn't agree more!

After a week in Spain we're missing those warm temps - back to winter woolies here in Dublin this morning!

  7. Great thoughts by Wilf!! So good to read that his diabetes is under control!

It was also a good day yesterday in that I (thankfully) saw nothing on the morning news shows about Charlie Sheen. Maybe he was at home clipping coupons from the Sunday paper since he may be out of a job!

  8. I just wish that everyone everywhere would stop feeding Charlie Sheen's ego! The man needs a serious dose of reality check. And um, yeah, I think I'll pass on the baby vampirism!

Wilf's attitude towards life if what I always wish I could have. :)

  9. Wilf's reaction to being blind is a shining example of how trust can outweigh almost anything.

  10. 'Three grand essentials to happiness are something to do, something to love and something to hope for'.

And sometimes they are the same thing -- like 'eating coconut ice cream.'

Wishing many pleasant scents for the old family fellow.

  11. Perhaps the Super Couponer and Charlie Sheen can get together and have a Baby Vampire with Tiger Blood! Winner! (as Sheen states, frequently)

Actually, I think Charlie Sheen is in need of serious medical confinement. Huge slide into insanity. And he is surrounded by losers and takers, none of which seem to be of any help. Sad story, train wreck in progress.

I look forward to the days when we can have the windows rolled down in the car. We are still bundled up here. Won't be too much longer! Glad Wilf is settling in for a bit of peace.

  17. At least Charlie Sheen isn't all over your TV in France, including what passes for 'news.'

So good to see Wilf is holding his own, enjoying his time and his family, and anticipating his coconut ice cream.

  19. Sometimes it's difficult to comprehend a world in which Charlie Sheen is the top news of the day. It makes me want to join Wilf under the tablecloth.

So happy he's adjusting well, and sleeping better. Good boy.
